Autumn Statement not too bad could have been a lot worse.

When you consider what George Osborne had to work with initially, you have to give him credit for putting something back into our infrastructure, at the moment I am listening to a discussion on the proposal of increase in Pension Age in the year 2026,that appears to be the most talked about subject. All in all of course times are hard however they could have been much harder, it's catch 22.

I have read it and still stand by my earlier post. The situation is extremely serious however we are still in there fighting, the markets are looking pretty good and as long the banks follow the advice from Sir Mervyn BOE Chairman and start looking seriously at contingency plans for the inevitable breakup of the Euro,we should survive it. Of course times are hard they are hard for us all, that's when the best of British comes out.

I know I can be really slow on the uptake sometimes, but there are times when Dawn dazzles with her acumen regarding finacial matters and her in depth views and unbiased understanding of mational politics. I truly am not worthy!

Vanessa. Shame on you. What makes you think that the fact our esteemed chancellor is having to borrow £100bn more than planned because tax revenues have fallen is anything other than the sign that his policy of austerity is working? How can you not see that the euro crisis is not a marvellous excuse behind which to hide but in fact a root cause? You would do well to be thankful.

Really? Try telling that to the poor sods who have lost, or may lose their jobs, and the others with jobs and no pay rises for the forseeable future. No wonder people went out on strike, and still the banks haven't had to take a hit for the damage they have done, what is it £4M in bonuses again? If this stupid government put as much energy into going after the tax dodgers like Vodaphone etc. as they do persecuting the public sector we'd all be better off.

Vanessa,when you consider that our Bond Yield Rate is running at 2.18% at the moment and yet just over 18 months ago is was running nearly as bad as the Italian Bond Yield then surely as bad as it is, it could be much much worse.

Isn't it great though that we do still have it.Also good that he is cutting back on those stupid Health and Safety rules set up from outside, looking good for our Pensions and very good for mums who work and have to pay exorbitant rates to have their kids looked after, a freeze on fuel also a ceiling on train fares, of course it's not great but under the circumstances as I said before it could have been a lot worse.
