Reynards Mills and Chistianity

Well the faith has realy showed it pious hypocritical selfish values this time article:-"Vicar of St Faith's church Rev Derath Durkin speaks out about Reynard Mills proposals "Playing to the crowd What about the homeless cramped in overcrowded housing ,how about the young couples who can't afford to get started on the property ladder, How about the slum landords in windmill road who are also objecting to this proposal. to compete.How about considering a bigger picture than your empty pews. There are people out there who are in need of housing in this borough ,perhaps you would suggest somewhere the council might allow building Gunersbury park maybe. or just somewhere you can't smell.This campaign is about house price's car parking etc Nimyism, and not a jot about your so called Christian values , Derath youshould be ashamed of yourself.Graham Bingham

Forgive me but I do not see how this proposed development will reduce existing overcrowding or poor quality housing. A quick search on find a property shows 254 properties for sale in the Brentford area and 195 to rent. A large proportion of these are in the fairly new developments. There is no shortage of housing if you have money. There is, however, a shortage of social housing for those unable to obtain a mortgage or afford to rent. I don't see how yet another private development helps this. I appreciate that a percentage will go toward affordable housing, however not nearly enough to ease the situation. The real issue seems to be the mismanagement of properties by Hounslow Homes.

Peter, I think you're purposely trying to create mischief, reading Graham's post there's no suggestion in it that the new flats are going to be slums, and his view is simply that more new houses are required to reduce existing overcrowded/poor quality housing, not necessarily in Windmill Road but generally throughout London.

I didn't know there were any slum landlords in Windmill Road.Or are you saying that there are slums in Windmill Road?If so are you saying that the new flats are going to be slums as well and therefore competing with the existing slums?Or are you saying the new flats will house slum landlords that will compete with the existing slum landlords in Windmill Road?I'm not sure I get the point you're trying to make.

Please see my point made this morning to the other posting thread on Windmill Road Development.  If you and the other person posting have had comments to make in support of this development, then why did you not come along to the public meeting that was held last month at St Faith's to hear for yourself and put across your own feelings to the wider community.  The whole community is affected by this development and therefore all our points, including Derath's and yours are valid, but in this case I do feel you may be outnumbered

You are missing the point. The plans as submitted are a massive overdevelopment and the points made by the Rev are all valid.
