More immigration?

Croatia voted to join the EU. Much opposition and violence due to loss of sovereignty, the Italians will nick their Adriatic fish, etc, etc.Their Foreign Minister says the country is so broke that the only option is to join the EU after ratification by all existing EU countries.Another Greece?

With you on those sentiments George.Did you know that the phrase 'Little Englander' originally referred to someone who rejected the way of life offered by the booming industrial revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries and who wanted a return to the pastoral,rural 'Little England'?The poet John Clare was a Little Englander as such.

You and don't know the numbers, but we shall certainly get some Croats just as we get Romanians. Poverty in Croatia is especially dire.Not quite clear about your previous tongue in cheek. I can't quite define patriotism for myself and certainly am no nationalist, but I have never thought of a Frenchie or a descendant of the Hunnic migration as being bigger. I like this country and would always stay here little or large, and I don't like too much EU interference.

You're not supposed to mention the war George, or Germany taking over Europe for its own ends. You are in danger of being labelled a 'Little Englander' if you do.

Keith.You are not on the ball today! EU citizens have the right of free movement anywhere in the EU.It may be that all EU countries could be asked to throw money into the pit. No one can afford it. And I doubt that Germany will again involve themselves as they did in WW2 because the history of the Nazis supporting the Croatians murder the Serbs is still just too horrific.

Strange post George.The only time you mention immigration is in the title. In what way do you imagine it might mean more immigration ? You do mention fishing in your posting, and I suggest you use a more subtle lure.Another Greece in the sense that they will probably want to be a modern economy with all the mod cons that implies without being able to afford it or able to pay back any loans.I should imagine that the last thing Merkozy need right now is another pit into which to throw money.
