Well I'll look forward to it and hopefully there will be lots of people that I have not seen for many many years. I really do not need either Robbie or Ray there, my sons re-wired the whole of the Inverness I'm quite sure they have membership.As for Ray I have known him since he was in shorts!!! Robbie plays a mean game of NAP!Are you selling tickets if so I want 10%.

Sunday lunchtime after about 3pm.  Ray and/or Robbie will probably be there not long afterwards.I won't be there the following Sunday though, I'll be drinking Sagres in Amanda's Bar instead.  That's if TAP Air Portugal hasn't been taken over by the Bundesbank by then.

Back to reality and the real Fred Trueman...I remember once when I were a lad  Fred was commentating on't cricket on't wireless and during a rain break the late,great John Arlott said to him words to this effect 'We have a letter here Fred from Mrs Smith in Manchester who asks why all fast bowlers seem to have big backsides''Well'says Fred 'In my case I need a big hammer to knock in a long nail'.

Initially it was a joke that I knew would catch Phil's imagination it has obviously escalated, however I will go down to the Inverness, just to see who is still around from the old days.I'm sure Ray and Robbie will allow me entry without being a member.

Absolutely bonkers - nothing more to say really.  However I did know Fred Trueman (cricketer) quite well socially he spent a lot of time in the bar of the Mayfair Hotel in the early 90s.  I'm sure he would be qually baffled by the original posting.Who cares about some possible one time resident of Brentford who may have been called Trueman and what would they have to do with Fred the Shred?  As mentioned above - barking!

Phil,You with your knowledge yet again assumed, which you do far too often, just remember that you are only 2 years older than my daughter so your reminisces are somewhat of a shorter period than mine.Perhaps I will also pop into the Inverness and talk over old times with her!!! Tell me when next you are there and I'll accommodate you!!! It will be nice to re-visit old acquaintances.

I do indeed know a Ms. Richardson from said establishment but to my knowledge she doesn't use this forum.  Happy to chat with her about anything but I do feel we are digressing somewhat, I was just curious to know why a much loved former England cricketer had been posthumously stripped of an honour he had never received, but it would appear you were confusing him with the former boss of the Royal Bank of Scotland.  An easy mistake to make.

I did!! and it was very effective and Phil when you consider that you do not come from Brentford don't talk about what you don't know. The Truemans lived behind Mrs Butlers shop, in fact a Ms.Richardson who sometimes comes on the Forum whose family came from there,opposite the church.In fact I have just remembered you can chat with her down the Inverness Club. Would you like a list of OLD Brentonian Families that you could perhaps check up on, if so I can supply them.

Since you have asked so nicely Keith, I will explain. My Great Grandad Harper had a Shire Horse with which he towed barges along the canel many many years ago and my uncle Fred Trueman had a long boat(Narrow) which he used to take goods up North. So there you go my Uncle Fred was a good'un and would never haunt anyone!! What do you think?

I am,once again,in awe and not just a little baffled by your 'humour' Dawn. Taking back a knighthood from one of England's finest fast bowlers (if it's Fred Trueman you mean),especially when he didn't receive that honour in the first place.Priceless.
