Our Coastal Safety is to be OUTSOURCED what a disgrace!!

Listening to Daily Politics, I was amazed to hear that because we are short of money our Sea King Helicopters also Pilots and Staff are to be made redundant and the future safety of our Coasts are going to be put under the auspices of the Department of Transport not the MOD.The Dept of Transport cannot even cross the road on there own. Who made this outrageous decision outsourcing is only going to cost us money and lives! how can we depend on Private Companies with the Health & Safety rules that are so rife, our Pilots and their Crews are perpetually putting their lives on the line are Government seriously saying that Private Companies would do the same, NO they would not.THINK VERY SERIOUSLY BEFORE YOU MAKE A VERY BAD DECISION111

Yes that's right, he has just landed in the Falklands to do so for the next 6 weeks. After coming back here he will continue with his Squadron rescueing people,until along with the other Air Sea/Navy personnel they will all be made redundant.What I cannot understand is why? have the MOD not found the 6 Billion that went missing surely it cannot be that difficult, if found none of our forces need be made redundant.

Well Tony if it is outsourced, I sincerely hope that you are never in dire straits either on a Mountain or at Sea in a Storm, because me old mate you would die!! cause it would be too bad to do anything because of the bad weather or Health & Safety.

It most certainly is, I don't think that they would sell their Grandmothers, however I do believe that the Coalition is the wrong thing for us. I also must admit to be very disappointed in David Cameron purely because he is appearing very weak not only to us but the rest of the World,it more often appears that Nick Clegg pushes the start button before Mr Cameron does anything!!!Not good for him or the country, I wish they had never had the coalition, however that would have left the UK in an untenable position with only Labour. What we really need is an Independent Political Party whose only thought is the good of the UK!!Instead of trying to gain brownie points off of each other(all parties)we don't need egotists we need solidarity among our politicians at this time to get our country back on its feet again. Do you not agree?

Well, this seems to be a case of the biter bit as far as you're concerned. Your beloved Cameron and co. are responsible now, it's true they'd sell Grandmothers if there was a few quid in it for them and their pals.

Apparently we have a(Squadron)of approx. 100 men who Crew the Sea King-Air Search & Rescue Helicopters(Royal Air force & Royal Navy) who have done this service since the last War both rescuing people up Mountains and from the Sea in dreadful conditions which if outsourced would not happen because of the Health & Safety Rules.Lets be completely honest anything that has ever been outsourced has always cost we the taxpayer money, this time we are talking lives it should not even have been contemplated by government they must think that we are stupid.Can you just imagine being trapped up a mountain in bad conditions or in a storm upon the high seas expecting to be saved and the message that came back is SORRY!!THE WEATHER IS TOO ROUGH! TOUGH LUCK.
