Fabio Capello earned 24 MILLION Pounds in 4 Years when is Ed Miliband going to start on this!!!

When you consider that 6 Million Pounds a year salary for a Football Manager is acceptable to Ed Miliband why? on earth is he making such a Hoo & Cry over bankers bonuses, don't get me wrong bonuses for success only no arguement!However if we are to continue to have a witch hunt over large salaries and bonuses to institutions that are making money for our economy, than he should criticize all not just selective ones.No one on TV has mentioned that Stephen Hester declined his previous years bonus as well!!!

They only get 10% if they have NOT requested a transfer actually.

I'm sure your right Keith,quite frankly I really would not mind earning that amount. This is not being argumentative but do they get 10% of their transfer fee. And YES! you are right only the chosen few earn grand amounts.

Dawn,You will find that a small o% of footballers earn over 100k pw.Granted most of those in the Premiership are on very good money,but most will be ready for the knackers yard for football purposes by the time they are 32-34 years old.I should imagine at Brentford for instance,£800-£2500 pw would be about the salary range.It sounds a lot if your carerr is for 40 years like most of us work,but factor in London rents etc. and it'e not that much.I could br wrong,but a few of my bees mates say that woul be about right.

It was not meant as a political thing, I was showing that salaries are as exorbitant outside of banking but of course it is football so sacrosanct,obviously all in the footie industry deserve to earn great big salaries. Can you afford £80.00 per game to watch a game live? can anyone on a regular basis.It is the same all over again, two sets of rules. It is not and should not be acceptable to be selective on the basis of one segment of our society. Who! whether we like them earning good salaries & bonuses if they are successful pay a great deal of tax which is and has been utilized by any government past and present.We are not talking a few shillings here 28% Tax if they don't contribute this then it means that our tax bill goes up and quite frankly I have paid and continue to pay too much tax, let someone else do it!! The bankers maybe only 1% of our society however they pay many many millions per year in taxes.

Dawn, are you seriously trying to turn this into a political thing? Are you completely demented or have you run out of things to blame on Labour?Football is a business. A bad one at least, tax right off at best. For God's sake, if this is the best you can do then you are really struggling aren't you?

He's done an excellent job at Spurs on a limited budget (by Premier League standards). I'm not sure he'd have the same success with England though.  An old saying about silk purses and sow's ears springs immediately to mind.The problem with being an international manager as opposed to a league manager is that one's options are finite.  Roberto Mancini can buy Gareth Bale or Lionel Messi if he comes up with the necessary, but Capello couldn't play either of them.

Possibly the best paid charity worker ever. Give a man a bag of chalk and ask him to manufacture bricks - no chance. Remember his donkeys such as Terry, Lampard and Rooney were being paid more than him.Give the job to journeyman Harry. When the team go down it will just be the latest in a long line of failures he has made a living from.

I would dispute that Capello 'earned' that money at all, true he got it, possibly under false pretences, but 'earned' it? Not in this life he didn't.

Football managers' wages, and even more so footballers' ridiculous wages, are a product of free market capitalism. The Conservatives have traditionally been the champions of free market capitalism, notwithstanding the fact that Labour has now declared its policy as being to make the same system "work better".
