It took 2 years but Justice at last!Ali Dizaei sentenced to 3 years!

Ali Dizaei a disgrace to the Metropolitan Police Force, he abused his power by having a creditor arrested for daring to front him outside a restaurant. He owed the chap money for data that the he had put on his computer, when yet again he was asked for payment he called the police and had the guy arrested.It is only right that irrespective of the power that any individual holds no one but no one is above the Law.

Hi DawnI was not having a pop at you, simply asking you for clarification as I wasn't sure from your earlier post whether you were condemning these actions or protesting that we should be doing something similar in the UK.  To be honest I'm still not, but perhaps it is just me being thick.If I didn't speak out against this incident until you mentioned it it was because until you did so I hadn't been aware of it.  But for what it is worth I do not think it is reasonable to burn down an entire village because of the actions of a small number of its residents.  Then again maybe I'm just a soppy old do-gooder.

Whose rules, so in your estimation it is only right to permit terrorists to remain in our country to plan murder and mayhem against us. At the moment we have 9 of these bar-stewards residing within our country 7 are Algerian 2 of whom before they were caught were going to release poisonous gases which would have killed many many of us and yet they cannot be deported to their own country because they might be tortured and that would make a mockery of the Human Rights get out.As far as protecting my family our Queen and country I do not make false claims I would quite happily DIE trying to protect each and everyone.

Phil, Where was your outcry when this actually occurred, all very well to have a pop at me however it would have been far better to show your displeasure at the actions of the Italian Police if that is of course what you thought.The point that I attempted to make is that other EU countries do exactly as they wish without any comment and yet we have to put up with terrorists being in our country and we bloody well pay them for the privilege, why because of their Human Rights well what about our rights, silly me we just follow the rules imposed upon us from the EU who totally ignore those same rules when it suits.

You put words in my mouth in the last sentence which I don't support at all. I do dare to defend the supremacy of the Rule of Law. You neither dare to support it nor engage with that concept. So IMO your claim to protect country is spurious.

DawnI'm not really sure what point you are making here.  Are you saying there should have been an outcry?  Or are you saying it is reasonable behaviour to burn down a village in response to the dreadful actions of one man?It strikes me that you have made an unanswerable case for human rights legislation.

Human Rights were a necessity many years ago now it is continually abused and it seems to me that we are the only ones who play the game.A few years back an Italian Nurse was brutally raped and murdered by a Romanian, the Italians had permitted lots of them to build a fabricated village however when this dreadful crime occurred the police had no compunction about what they would do, they burnt the village down and frog marched the Romanians to the border and over.There was no outcry!

Well I certainly agree that we should "rule ourselves", but do you believe that taking powers away from a European political elite and returning them to a home-grown political elite achieves this objective?I can't help but be aware that the European legislation that seems to have antagonised the British political class the most tends to be that which actually works for our benefit, such as the national minimum wage and the recognition of essential human rights.We will only "rule ourselves" when real grass roots democracy and governance is allowed to play its natural part in our politics, and powerful vested interests are removed from the process entirely.  Until that happens I don't much care whether my chains are made in London or in Brussels.

Phil,I do understand what you are saying, however I don't agree with the Coalitions actions, I would far sooner them not have gotten into power then continue to give our powers and rights willy nilly over to the EU.Why? are government allowing the EU to FORCE Tate & Lyle to cut jobs, by denying them the right to open and work their Silvertown Refinery 7 days a week as they have since they opened for business, the EU have ruled that they can only open 5days a week this means a possible loss of 30 jobs.I know that they doesn't seem a lot,however when we have over 2.5 Million unemployed it is a disgrace. What can they do to us if our businesses started to say NO!! fine them OK however what would happen if said businesses chose to ignore the fines and carried on with business as usual.The EU is only as powerful as our politicians permit them to be. Time is running out for all parties,before long there will be a resounding war cry from the people for the people of give us back our rights!! THE RIGHT TO RULE OURSELVES.

You Supercilious little man!how dare you, so if you had to choose between you wife and children dying through the actions of someone like Abu Qatada you would obviously choose him because you are an upstanding citizen.I follow one rule and that is the protection of both my family and my country,if you can't accept that! then TOUGH!!!Once not so many years ago our Home Office had absolute rule, until politicians gave our rights away. Now Rapist and Murderers also Terrorist's get compensated for their heinous crimes. But that's alright because George Knox says it is!!

If we followed Dawn’s standpoint on AQ then we suspend the rule of law. If that happens, a precedent is set. If that happens another, and then another rule of law gets suspended. In each case the authorities would/could exceed their powers and go outside the law. That’s what happened in Germany. That’s what has happened in our lifetimes ever since in some other countries. The more the law is suspended and the more authorities can bypass the law, the more unstable the constitution becomes at risk. The more the rule of law is weakened the more the authorities are swayed by the baying mob who don’t appreciate how we came to develop our rule of law and what it means. Some where recently Dawn said something along the lines that she would fight for her countrymen.What she is actually saying is that she fights for them when it suits her and against them when it suits her. For me that is deceitful. I don’t want people in this country being given power when they can’t be trusted to be consistent in respecting the rule of law. I don’t want people in charge who are unreliable. I don’t give credence to those whose views are unreliable because they don’t know and cannot understand and through bigotry and irrational anger won’t understand the consequences of what they are talking about.The rule of law is supreme. The AQ situation legally is subservient to that supremacy. It displays ignorance to argue otherwise.

DawnDavid Cameron's problem is that there are two significant bodies of opinion within his own party on the European issue and he has to juggle skilfully to keep both balls in the air at the same time.He is fortunate in this regard to have Nick Clegg on the team, enabling him to pursue policies that keep the Euro-enthusiasts relatively happy whilst pleading to the Euro-sceptics that his hands are tied.  Please bear in mind I have seen this hand being played in coalitions before.

Of course I am extremely angry as to WHY? our government adhere to rulings from Europe on anything that appertains to the UK. If I had my way Abu Qatada would have been put on a plane and sent to Jordan as soon as he was released.Where are the promises made by David Cameron before the election, the main one being that he would take back powers from the EU,powers that should never have been given in the first place. We as a nation are being taken to the cleaners by our politicians, at least Maggie Thatcher came on TV and told us what she was going to do.We unfortunately only hear what has been decided by government after the event!!!

I do agree with George that the law must be applied equally - even though we could all think of instances where it hasn't been! Nevertheless I also agree with Dawn over Desai, I always thought he was a chancer, and now two juries haven't believed him.

“ No one is above the Law”So we find you happy for the law to be applied by sending a criminal to jail, but not happy for the law to be applied which then results in another man (Abu) being freed.I am happy for the law to be applied. I am not happy at all if our law is not applied – or indeed is suspended to satisfy the baying crowd.What we would all be happier about is if the law, in some cases, could be changed. However despite some very clever parliamentary legal brains, a working legal solution has still not been found.
