It is official - OAP's in this Country are having way too much fun....

'Pensioners should be stripped of winter fuel allowance and free bus travel because it costs too much, a leading think tank has claimed. The Social Market Foundation (SMF) claims that the £1billion annual cost of OAP bus travel does nothing to improve the economy and should be cut by the government as it tries to slash spending.'Sigh.

There's some little charmer over on Chiswick W4 who is moaning about the bus pass and us overly indulged baby boomers. I only hope that he remembers his words when he gets older, as he will, and we all know it comes round extremely quickly. If I hear one more peson blaming our generation for all the ills in this country I may get violent!

I think you are all proving that you are having way too much fun and I am surprised that the think tank hasn't suggested a halt to free thinking to stop people of a certain age answering their superiors back.I wonder if the Chinese taking over Thames Water is a front for something else - you often hear people pondering over what might be in the water.....

Laughed like hell at the news that Tesco, Matalan, Sainsburys and others have pulled out of the government scheme that stupid Nick Clegg was trying to persuade us would lead to youngsters getting jobs, on the Beeb news tonight. Why should the taxpayers subsidise these big profitable companies? If these people have job vacancies then they should pay the going rate for the work. I for one do not believe that four weeks in any of those shops will be the golden gate to a shining future - because there still aren't many jobs around, least of all for younger people. My son has been out of work, and everything he's found so far he's done on his own, JC+ are only interested in box ticking. Yet there is help out there, again a case of it's not what you know it's who.

Us baby boomers have always been quite a bolshie lot, this has not dimmed with the greying of hair - it took a 75 year old to give that creep Lansley what for yesterday remember. This government are cowards, they go after easy targets when, as several of us have already said, pursuing the tossers avoiding tax would be more productive, but that would be to upset the people with a vested interest in bankrolling these rich boys playing with our lives.

The Antisocial Market Foundation isn't a very deep thinking think tank is it? Have they considered the Grey Backlash at the next election,I mean...lets wait until the Baby Boomers reach retirement and then we'll set about them.  I read the story on the Torygraph website,and it isn't just the travel concessions,they are suggesting that there should be a cap on tax free ISAs of £15,000 and means testing the heating and child allowances.  It would be much nicer if they went after the companies that avoided paying more than £10 bill. in taxes.  I can only conclude that they think we (Greys) are a soft target,there's quite a lot of room for error in that assumption,methinks.

Also talk today about the Budget reducing the allowance on pension premiums and also taxing the lump sum should a pensioner take one.So Brown wrecked our pensions and possibly Georgie will take the next step to finish us off.Perhaps finally OAPs will have the capital in their homes taxed, and the job will be done in its entirety!

Incredible - and I wonder if the 'think tank' all volunteered their services or claimed expenses.  I actually couldn't bring myself to say anything about culls or one way tickets to Switzerland type answers because I just felt sick.

I don't think anybody suggested that the concession was designed to improve the economy, did they? It's to allow pensioners to get out and about and stop them being isolated and stuck at home.If the SMF really wants to improve the economy, they should probably suggest a cull. Bump off all the pensioners and we'd pay off our debts overnight!Not sure 'think tank' is quite the right description. Doesn't sound as if any of them have engaged their brains.

I don't suppose this 'Think Tank' thought of kicking up a a stink about Vodaphone and myriad others who avoid paying billions in tax here, or campaigning to do something to curb banker's bonuses? No? I didn't think so, strange how they always take the line of least resistance. Of course the fact that both of those things could go some way to help get us out of the s*** we're in wouldn't occur to these numpties.
