Thames Water makes false claims over fixing leaking pipes - BBC

"I wonder why it takes so long to finish a job." In the good old days before the nanny state was controlled by jobsworth Health & Safety lunatics, you could get the job done. These days Thames Water jumps at every opportunity to hide behind 'Health & Safety' issues and everything is slow, slow, slow.

Well according to Cameron today, the water companies are a shinning example of how privatisation of utilities can benefit the country and is one of the reasons why the roads should now be privatised. I do wonder how this man would cope in the real world.

Progress??I watch the water gangs today with their mini diggers and I wonder why it takes so long to finish a job.Then I wonder how on earth we got jobs done in the 60's with just a wheelbarrow to carry the tools and breaking the road open with a sledge hammer and a pick and shovel.You are right..Halcyon days.

I seem to remember in the days before Thames Water came into being,I worked for the then Metropolitan Water Board during the 1960's in the Brentford and Twickenham areas and leaks were repaired as soon as they were reported.Also there was a very efficient Leakage Detection department to locate underground leaks that weren't visible...how times change!!

Not surprised at all - I know that the two leaks I reported were reported at least a week prior to the date T.W. said they were. I have been astounded that all this wittering on about the Police using water cannon hasn't been picked up - where do they propose to get the water if we're going to have a hosepipe ban? Hope they're not going to rely on T.W. for supplies.
