Twickenham Road/South Street junction - RANT !

So now we have temporary lights at the junction of South Street and Twickenham Road which is causing absolute mayhem out there - I got on the 267 at Brentford and it took over an hour to get to Fulwell - if I hadn't been wearing a suit, long coat and carrying a big bag I would have walked...Why was there no advance warning signs about these works ?.  Yes there were signs warning of works to/closure of St. Margarets Road, but St. Margarets Road is 1/2 mile from the South Street/Twickenham Road junction and the signs only referred to night works.Is there EVER going to be more than a week when we are not going to have some temporary roadworks in our part of the Borough ?.  At the moment it is the biggest reason I'd consider moving away, because we are basically living in an area of transport hell:-(

Isn't it the case that if they say it's an emergency then no-one can stop them doing the work -as indeed they should be able to in the case of a gas leak, the problem is we're all beginning to weary of all these supposed 'emergencies' that are never ending.

ClaireThis is a repair to a gas pipe.  When they leak they have to be fixed.  Nothing to do with the Council.  Just like Thames Water’s mains, some of this is very old apparatus.  Your complaint should be directed to the utility companies.

Why is the answer always some sort of emergency?It may very well be true but the council have consistently ballsed these things up soooo much that frankly nobody buys it anymore. It's very 'boy that called wolf'.

This was apparently emergency work - gas main repairs (National Grid).Should be finished now.

I dont think London United who run the 267 have even noticed Phil and their drivers would certainly not be bothered

I take the 267 in the opposite direction in the morning and at around 8.30 there were SIX of them in a line heading, albeit very slowly, for Fulwell (maybe Adam was on one of those?).So it would seem the bus operators hadn't been notified either.

Traffic was diabolical this morning.I knew I was late, even though I didn't know the time.My advice to any driver is to avoid Twickenham Road, from West Mid to the Isleworth Recreation Centre until the holes are filled in.

St. Margarets Rd. and surrounding area is in competition with Brentford as the most dug up piece of road in the universe, I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it. It's only a month since it was dug up and had temporary lights for something else, and that was only a few weeks after we'd had another saga to put servies in to some flats being built nearby. There is clearly a competition going on of which we know nothing!!!
