Does anyone know how to disconnect a smoke detector? Bear with me
Before people go health and safety mental;A few year's ago we had our kitchen extended and in doing so discovered that we had a main sewage pipe in our back garden that needed re-routing. Anyway, it became such a job that the council sent inspectors almost every day to ensure works were to code and this involved...in their wisdom... putting a heat / smoke detector in the middle of the kitchen that is wired straight into the electrics and the bloody thing goes off every single time we cook. I mean making toast makes it go off. And because it's wired in, it connects to all the other smoke detectors and the house sounds like it's in the middle of a blitz attack. The kitchen is the worst place to have a smoke / heat detector but I'm stuck with it. I've tried turning the fuses off and covering it so does anyone know what else to do?
