Famous and Spotted in the local area

I saw Sandy Toksvig today, crossing Twickenham Road, Isleworth.She may have been heading for "Get Stuffed" or the Computer Repair Shop or even the Isleworth Working Men's ClubShe had a small plastig bag, but I could not see the make or name on this item.I am a keen celebrity stalker, I mean spotter - has anyone else spotted someone I might know ?psNot John Stapleton please, as he is a common sight in the local area.

Jack "Spot" Comer, the infamous gangland boss died in reduced circumstances of "cerebrovascular accident and immobility" at Nazareth House, Isleworth on March 12, 1995. Some of his ashes were scattered in Israel. He famously took on some of Oswald Mosley's fascist thugs in the Battle of Cable Street.

The borough border is down the middle of Rugby Road, as well as Tesco, Varsity Close estate is also part of Hounslow and is in the electoral ward of Isleworth. Similarly if anyone at ASDA or any of the shops on the Ivybridge parade were to go out to Twickenham Rd. and look at the old milestone on the bridge they would see that they are also still in Isleworth. This is just snobbery if you ask me.

Its simple really, if Tesco were in Isleworth then it would be next to the Sewage works at Mogden, whereas if Tesco were in Twickenham, it would be next to the National Stadium.:-)

Yes Sair! That's the very one,doesn't it look like a proper pub,very pretty? I used Google Earth to look for any building that had those lovely green tiles but obviously missed it,thanks a lot. I shall visit it next time I'm down in June. It was when they were filming A Hard Days Night on (is it?) Thornbury Playing Fields 23rd April'64. We were sitting in there waiting to get on the table for 10 minutes before I realised who they were,they were so quiet,hardly talking. Of course when I told the rest of our table they all turned round to have a look,at that Paul looked at Ringo and George and nodded towards the door and they departed. On the plus side we did get our game of bar billiards in. :o)

Lonnie Donegan was a fairly regular visitor to La Rossetta in the Brentford High Street in the 1990s.One evening he invited me to join him at his table (for company!) and he mentioned that he was going to Teddington TV Studios the next evening to do "This is your Life" and would I like to come along!!!

Back in 1964 when I was at the University of Isleworth (Polytechnic really),we used to go to a pub which I thought was in Linkfield Rd. (but I can't find it on Google Earth now).We "always" played bar billiards at lunchtime,except this day when three blokes beat us to the table,only the blimmin Beatles wasn't it?  Cheek !!  That's true that is.

When living in Brentford the most famous I saw was Dirk Bogarde when filming The Gentle Gunman in Pottery Road,that was in 1952...up till seeing that film I never knew you could get into Belfast Docks from Pottery Road!!!!!
