Residents' Association G.P area

Does anyone know if;1) there is still a residents' association for the Braemar Rd, New Rd, Clifden Rd, Hamilton Rd and Brook Rds areas2) who the Chairperson of such an association is?I had the audacity to question Labour councillors at a meeting at least 5 years ago when Mr Curran was leader and have had no notification of meetings since so was wondering if they still happen and if so, is he still the leader.

Steve Curran was the leader of the RA (hence my original post). I had heard rumours of donations from tv / film companies filming but honestly don't know the truth of such things.Now that Mr Curran is a councillor I was honestly wondering if he had handed over the reigns of the RA to someone else - and if so who - or was still in charge. If still in charge, 2 questions spring to mind. Has there been a meeting in the last 5 years and why weren't the residents' objections to the garage conversion properly conveyed to the Council in the recent planning meeting?If not, did he disband the whole thing?The questions from there just continue....

There was some sort of Griffin Park residents association, I was working for a film production company a while back and we made a substantial donation to them when we were using Brook Road and Braemar road as locations. So it must have a treasurer and funding. Have no idea now who runs it or who it's commitee is although a neighbour has mentioned a Steve Curran, the same one who is the Syon Councillor?

SamanthaThat goes with the territory I'm afraid, once you start a thread it develops and people end up communicating with each other rather than just responding to your question.  Sometimes it can go well off topic but that is part of what a forum is about.In this instance though it was just some friendly banter rather than anybody "having a go" ... I think.Good luck with the R.A.

I agree - just do it. Hounslow Council can't give their orders, although my involvement many years ago was precisely because we were deeply unhappy with the council at the time, there were no attempts at all to interfere. However, you can get good information about having a proper constitution, and what - if any - money might be accessible for various things. Phil is obsessed with the idea that Hounslow council is made of up of a gang of control freaks................

Great.  I am in fact a Council Tenant and was advised to contact the East Area Tenant Liaison Officer and I have done so several times but she has never returned by email or telephone calls.  Does you advice still apply if we are Council tenants?Many thanks

SamanthaYou do not need Hounslow Council's permission to form a residents' association, and no matter how unenthusiastic they may be about you doing so they will engage with you pretty sharpish once you have one because they like to be in control of these things.  There will be forms for you to fill in and sundry instructions as to what you will need to do in order to become "compliant" with their criteria for recognition.  Whether you seek local authority recognition or not is entirely up to you, it has it's advantages and sometimes there is a financial inducement/bribe attached but if you choose to go it alone then that is not the end of the world either.My advice would be just to go ahead and do it.  There are lots of other groups around Brentford and beyond that I am sure would be happy to offer you help and support if you need any, indeed the residents' movement around the borough is beginning to link up rather well.Best of luck with it I say.

There is the Griffin Park association.  However, I live in New Road and have tried several times to set up a residents association by contacting the person (Eileen something) but in 6 years she has never bothered to respond!  Like many other things with Hounslow Council (and Hounslow Homes), the residents just give up, which, of course, we shouldn't
