Dare I say .. Vastly overrated and overpriced. There, I have said it! This used to be a lovely little pub called the White Horse that actually also (in latter years) did a great Sunday roast. When they built up the area around the canal/lock it got taken over and the prices went sky high.On a more personal note, we took our daughter out for something to eat there last summer. She is a very quiet 9 year old who sat nicely with us at the table, even tho opposite us was a very drunk couple with their rowdy dog who, to be honest, were getting on our nerves.( Of course we did not complain not wanting to upset anyone on such a lovely evening) & the waitress took our order at 6.30, including an order from the kids menu. It came at 7, which again, for a pub was quite a long wait (The Pilot in Wellesley Rd is much quicker with a similar menu, by the way) and then informed us WHILE serving my daughters plate, that kids had to be out by 7!! They did not say this at the time of order, so we asked what we could do since the food was there, to get the reply in good old Aussie terms.."well, if you hurry up and eat I spose it'll be alright.." Not really what you want to hear on a lovely summer night when you will be then paying £60 odd for meals and drinks. No one said anything to the loud drunk dog owners..Funnily enough as we were leaving another couple came up to us with their children, also quiet (if fact so much so we had not noticed them before) and said that the same thing had happened to them, but the waitress had taken their order after ours! A case of get 'em in and out quickly I guess. Anyway, have not and will not go back again.
