Which Chronicle?

In the latest edition of the Brentford, Isleworth & Chiswick Chronicle there are over 16 articles/mentions of activities in the south of the borough, which seems quite remote geographically, considering the borough is over 23 miles in length.  In a recent edition of the Chiswick & Kew Chronicle there were lengthy articles about the Gunnersbury Park regeneration (hardly warranting a mention in the Brentford version), and further articles of events and activities that are far more relevant to the geographic location of Brentford. My query is, why is there a duplication for Chiswick (albeit very little featuring about it in the Brentford, Iselworth & Chiswick Chronicle) and, more importantly, why is Brentford's Chronicle not more closely aligned/absorbed into the Chiswick & Kew Chronicle - it's neighbouring areas?

When I joined the paper a year ago I was soley the Brentford and Isleworth reporter.However, now due to redundancies and job cuts, I find myself covering the whole borough, which means it is getting harder to dig out the Brentford news.However, if you have anything you feel should be in the paper, please do call me on 07795645288.Lima x

Hi, I write a history column for the Chiswick and Kew Chronicle (Name soon to be changed to stop the confusion) and as an old Brentonian, I will be focusing on writing some interesting articles about Brentford's past, so that it's not forgotten!I agree that the hounslow Chronicle has hardly any Brentford or Chiswick news in it, mainly focusing on Whitton, Feltham, Bedfont etc.. I will raise the point and hopefully you can look out for many more 'local' articles in the paper. Hi,I'm a reporter for the Hounslow Chronicle - the Chiswick and Kew Chronicle has nothing to do with us! It's an independent paper that clearly liked our namesake.Therefore there may well be duplication between the two re the Chiswick area.As Phil says, there are three editions of the Hounslow Chronicle; Hounslow, Feltham and Heston and Brentford and Isleworth.These will have some news stories that are borough wide and some that are specific to the area.Hope that helps!! xx

AndreaWhat tends to happen with local newspapers is that each "different" edition will contain a page or two of news that is exclusive to that particular area, and the remainder of the paper will be identical throughout the wider distribution area.  This creates an impression of diversification whilst taking advantage of economies of scale.  They simply don't have enough reporters or resources to produce entirely separate newspapers in each area.

No, not yet.  It was something I wanted to check out with fellow residents, to see if it had been raised as an issue before and to gauge other's viewpoints first. I wanted to know whether other Brentford residents feel more closely aligned/interested with Kew, Chiswick and South Ealing than Feltham, Cranford and Heston?  If that was the case, it makes for a stronger argument with the Chronicle than one lone voice.
