Why, why,why?
The median strip top of Dawes Ave. junction Twickenham Rd has been completely dug up - all block paved as well. I do wish someone could tell me why this is felt to be necessary - after all its function is to stop right turns from Twickenham Rd. It's not as if people stroll along it or use it to play games on, so it's hardly a hazard, this along with loads of perfectly O.K. paving stones that have been replaced further along the road seems to me to be a criminal waste of money. At the same time the newly re-furbed library has a leaky roof (which it didn't have prior to the works). I also understand that some idiot insisted that shelves 7 feet high should be used for the children's library and that the library was closed for such a long time because it was used for storage by the contractors, not because of the refurb works, which panned out to be minimal as the Fusion money had run out before the library was started. You couldn't make it up - you really couldn't. It's also worth noting that the house on Twickenham Rd. opp. Gumley is STILL boarded up as is the ground floor flat in Magdala Road - housing crisis? What crisis?
