Line of Duty

Anyone else been glued to this excellent programme? Last night's episode had an excruciating ending. So any guesses who the mysterious Scots voice on the 'phone is? Possibly the high ranking copper only seen so far in the first episode?? Really couldn't get into the Christopher Ecclestone thing -'Blackout', seemed very disjointed to me- gave up halfway through episode 2.

In one of the Sunday papers there was an article about the numbers - in the hundreds - of officers, Chief Supt. rank down who were either allowed to retire or leave with pensions intact even though they were about to, or had been, under investigation/suspicion of various criminal activities. Talk about mind boggling. So I suspect that Line of Duty was nearer reality than many of us suspect. The Met. needless to say, had the largest numbers.

The police refused to help with the series and information  was provided by ex-cops and whistle blowers from within the force. It was filmed in Birmingham.Fans of the series might also like the film RAMPART just out on DVD about police corruption in Los Angeles.JL

Brilliant end to this great series, any chance of another? I thought I spied some loose ends. Puts the recent disgraceful happenings with the Met. into perspective, as the the status quo was maintained and everyone just went back to carrying on as normal.

I think that the continuity announcer does the 'scenes that some viewers may find disturbing' thing. People who don't like violence need to listen to these warnings and take note, not watch anyway and then complain.

I do not feel there is any need for such ‘in my face’ gratuitous violence for me to ‘believe’ the story.  And the boy on the bike is downright scary to me as my fear goes well beyond what he is doing to the idea that others might latch on the idea of it being cool to have such power.When the watershed was introduced I would guess that nobody envisaged a programme opening up at shortly after 9pm with such violence.  It seems we need another watershed at 11.pm.

"Why oh why is so much violence necessary?"Because this is about a drugs gang, not a Vicar's tea party. The type of people portrayed aren't squeamish as long as they get their money.

Luckily I have Virgin Catch Up or whatever they call it so will catch the last ten minutes I missed when I get home this eveningMust I admit I do not recall seeing Lennie James in other roles but will certainly look out for him in the futureI am sure a lot of his role in Line of Duty must be improvised as he plays the part so well and even when not actually speaking his expressions say a thousand words

You fell asleep? Mind you it was pretty horrendous, Lennie James is just a wonderful actor and has been in quite a lot of other things on the box. I do hope that there's another series.

I have watched every episode so far Vanessa apart from the last ten minutes last night when I fell asleep and have to agree its an excellent programme and very strange it is tucked away on BBC2The actor who plays Tony Gates really is fantastic in the lead role and I look forward to seeing him in other shows
