I believe it was a majority verdict so not all the jury were hoodwinked.

I hope they don't feel ashamed,they just acted on the information given at the time,it's completely daft not letting the jury know of any "previous" before reaching a decision.  Someone I know was on a jury on a rape case,the guy got off basically because the girl had "previous" for prostitution...that knowledge *was* permitted..and formed the mainstay of the defence. What wasn't allowed was that the bloke had five previous convictions for the same offence,my friend was absolutely distraught with guilt for weeks afterwards.

That thugs exist in the Met is well known. I agree with Vanessa in not understanding what was in the minds of the jury and that is really worrying. I hope they feel shamed now that Harwood's illustrious past has come to light. They got it so wrong.

"who on earth would have re-employed a thug like that?" Well...Maybe it's about time the Government had a serious look at Masonry in the police force. They had a voluntary survey which was hugely ignored,whole forces refusing to respond. It maybe now is the time to make it compulsory to disclose membership,all the time it's kept secret there will be those like me who think it's highly dubious.

What on earth were the jury on? I feel for that poor man's family and sincerely hope that if they go for a private prosecution they win. The MET really need to look at some of their procedures - who on earth would have re-employed a thug like that?

As an officer of the Met he was the Law and therefore above the law.
