A315 @ Kew Bridge

Message for Chris Calvi-FreemanThis week has been absolute bedlam trying to get out of Brentford at the eastern end. If I read Matt Harmer's e-newsletter correctly TfL reprogrammed the traffic lights because of the Games. Well how useless are they. They have created a roadblock for no reason. They now stop the eastern flow through the intersection to Chiswick after half the time it used to - so only about 5 cars maximum get through if doing a racing start - then proceed to change to red. They then let the west-bound traffic go green and we sit there waiting when we should be (and used to be) moving as well.In summary opposing traffic that has no opportunity to come into conflict now has been stopped from moving at the same time and had another cycle put into the system - a 3 cycle light change is now 4.When can we stop the pillocks coming into our area with their clueless observations, influencing our lives and leaving without even telling our own local counil (according to Matt) they are doing it?Good grief! 1 to buracracy, 0 to the people.

It is quite appaling. Decided to freeze my gym membership for the duration as it is impossible to get there . How ironical - these games were supposed to get us all fit and healthy. Will slob out for a month.

2 Olympic cars were stuck in this daily tailback today !!Of course NOTHING will change for weeks.7 YEARS to look at this, visit the junctions, speak to local people/councils, trial it and plan it.........you couldn't make it up!!

Thanks Chris for the prompt and informative response."We have recently been advised by TfL that the changes are quite deliberate, and are to protect the Chiswick roundabout and Olympic road network."This statement clearly demonstrates a lack of familiarity with the intersection and traffic flow through it as no void or gap is created by the re-phasing of the lights - all it does is give north bound traffic over Kew Bridge the bias through the intersection.If any of the TfL team stood at this intersection on any business morning it would take about 30 seconds to realise most traffic travelling east out of Brentford turns south over Kew Bridge.I can only hope the now unnecessary delays to bus journeys through this part of Brentford towards Chiswick make TfL realise the error of their recent adjustments.I shall report this on their website. Thanks again.

The Borough has been vigorously challenging TfL on any and all changes that have been made to traffic signals in recent days where the reason for each change is not clear and/or where concerns about safety have been raised in the local forums or by email or where such changes have been directly observed.  We are pressing for an urgent resolution in each case.We have recently been advised by TfL that the changes are quite deliberate, and are to protect the Chiswick roundabout and Olympic road network.Other boroughs are also complaining to TfL and the issue is being discussed with their senior management.You may wish to lodge a formal complaint with TfL.My media colleagues will be publishing a message shortly on the Council’s website.Chris Calvi-FreemanHead of TransportLondon Borough of Hounslow
