Thank you Brentford

On Friday evening there was a brilliant performance of a new opera performed by ROH2 and titled The Owl and the Pussycat on a floating stage in Brentford Lock. This was followed by a witty interpetation of the poem created by local schools with creative direction by body>data>space.We'd like to thank all the local residents who were patient as Brentford Lock was transformed into a wonderful performance space. We hope you think it was worth it. Let's hope this was the first of many more occasions which will help to light up Brentford.

Yes, a great event in Brentford, and equally successful events in the Hounslow town centre and at Lampton Park today.David, FYI, this is what it took for a successful torch relay through Hounslow borough:137 volunteer “Borough Torch Ambassadors” recruited from Council staff and partner organisations (Laings, Vinci Ringway etc); 85 professional stewards; barriers, road-closures, cleansing and trading standards teams; and a roving cycle team, all controlled by a team of 7 in the Borough’s emergency management centre.  Plus over 150 uniformed Police; dozens of professional and volunteer stewards engaged by the organisers of the three community events; sponsors’ staff (Samsung, Lloyds TSB and Coke); London Ambulance, Fire Service and London Buses teams, plus of course the LOCOG team and the Police torch protection runners.And of course 24 torchbearers, cheered on by their friends and families and 120,000 very happy and brilliantly enthusiastic spectators!I haven’t met anyone who didn’t enjoy themselves today.CCF

I was at this wonderful show along with four of my grandchildren. Who in there own words loved every minute. I was also amazed at how many staff it takes to put on a show.

I missed it but sounds great. As a recent resident of Brentford I look forward to future events highlighting Brentford, its heritage and history....Iain
