Olympic Cycling Road Races this weekend
The Olympic Cycling Road Races take place this weekend on a route starting in The Mall and running out through south-west London to Box Hill in Surrey and then returning to The Mall. Details of the route are given on the website http://www.getaheadofthegames.com/travelinaffectedareas/surrey-road-race.htmlAlthough the route does not pass through Hounslow borough, it will have a major impact on the movement of traffic in south-west London as traffic will not be permitted to cross the route whilst the races are taking place and there will be a period before and after the races that will be necessary for the installation and removal of barriers etc. Note: the A3 and the M25 will not be affected as the cycle route passes over or under these roads. Many residents may wish to travel to watch the event and, given the length of the route, there will be many excellent vantage points. The website above provides details of stations along the route that spectators can use to access the route.
