Death of former Isleworth Councillor

I was 'phoned this morning, quite early, to be told that Janet Tindall a former colleague and friend who had represented Isleworth ward had died suddenly of a massive heart attack at the weekend. Janet and her family had only recently moved to Harrogate in North Yorkshire following her retirement in March. Quite a few of us who had been colleagues in both the Labour party and on Hounslow Council had tried to meet up a couple of times a year for lunch, sadly we have lost another of our number who will be sadly missed.

I would like to agree with Corinna and just add that Janet was a Labour Cllr who was never afraid to voice her concerns with in the group if she disagreed with the direction of a policy we do all sometimes need people like Janet to point out our follies. Janet was a person who you had to respect for her knowledge and views evan if at times she had you in her sights, I think we have lost somebody who had great warmth, I and my wife would like to offer our full respect and sympathy to Vannessa and Janet's family for the loss of a such a loved one.

Of course it isn't the time to do this, but it just appeared that your small group who meet as you said, might like to turn their minds to this option to remind people of her work and life.  There is nothing detailed on line other than general meetings and reports.

I understand Vanessa's reluctance to do anything other than let people know about Janet's death- it is so traumatic for those of us in the local Labour Party who worked with her - I had a fantastic time with Janet from 1995 when I first was here until her election in a bye election in 1997 after the fantastic victory of the Labour Party in the GE 1997.It was great to serve the people of Isleworth North from 1998-2002 together on the council.The boundary changes meant Janet standing in Isleworth in 2002 - which allowwed Valerie Lamey to stand in Syon- we won, Janet, Vanessa and Pat lost but all were together.Vanessa and I spoke tonight- our and many in the local Labour Party see Janet with Valerie sharing a Gin and Tonic or two in the place I call heaven others somehere else. I am devastated - forgive typos if any. She died too young ith lots to do and I grieve for her Dad (aged 90) and her beloved sister Sue.

No - I did get it - but to be honest I wouldn't even know where to start and I really wouldn't want to bother Janet's family for details etc. at this awful time.

VanessaMy message seems to have gone a drift somewhere!  I just said I was sorry for your loss and that I had googled Janets name and there is little about her so maybe you could do a Wikipedia page for her?

Thank-you both for your thoughts, I have managed to speak to Janet's sister who is pretty devastated as you can imagine. We have all been knocked sideways at this news and feel helpless to say or do anything that makes this any easier to bear.

Very sorry to hear the news Vanessa.  Regrettably we never really spoke other than in adverse circumstances but as Paul says Janet clearly made a name for herself locally and was well thought of in many circles.  My condolenses go to her family and loved ones.

Very sorry to hear that news Vanessa and although my political times as such was after her period as a councillor she was still mentioned in Isleworth when I was active and seemed to have many friends in the area
