£27 for a fish and chip supper...

...if you're one of the Tories living in either Osterley & Spring Grove or Syon ward and want to hear your own MP make a speech.You can just see them all swarming across the London Road to attend that one, can't you?I don't think Syon councillors will be under any threat from this particular source in the forseeable future.

Now now now Phil.. be fair.Let's say £10 for top fish and chips served on polished plates with silver service, knives and forks, on decorated dining tables with the added bonus of attentive waitresses.Add £4 for the welcoming drink and £6 for a luscious dessert.That's £20 + £2 tip + Vat (£4.40) =£26.40 and the fund-raising event thus raises 60p each person!In addition we have the presence of the very talented local MP Mary Macleod.. who, in no time, seems to have aspired to top jobs in Parliament... and furthermore a talk from the Harrow East MP is an extra. All this on the borders of the Duke of Northumberland Estatein the very smart surroundings of the Coach and Horses. Fish,chips and Mandleson Guacomole(sp?) at the Coach is £11.Desserts £5-£8.The no doubt scintillating conversation, priceless...;-)

".......and want to hear your own MP make a speech"I recall recently seeing Mary Macleod "give a speech" to some 400+ people at the Hounslow Volunteers Award event at the "Syon Park" Hotel to great acclaim. It was masterly.A non political event it was too ..held within the Syon Ward...with people from at least 50 shades of the Community spectum. Surely you would applaud such a talented performer in our midst?No?    ;0)

I hope you enjoy your meal Jim, I hear the food in the Coach is very nice although I've not eaten in there for a year or two.  I used to prefer the cheap Thai but that's just me.As for Mary, yes she's a pleasant enough girl and obviously an improvement on her predecessor.  I think she's a lot more of a party liner than Andrew Dakers would have been, but each to their own.I still think most of the attendees will be from Chiswick though.  Syon is an area over which the Tories have been deluding themselves for quite some time, there was even the odd comment dropped when we were in coalition.  Personally I think they would do themselves more of a favour trying to hold onto Hounslow South and Osterley, both of which are beginning to look decidely shaky.That said, I might have come along myself if I'd have received an invite ;).

£27 seems quite reasonable to me considering it is a function-raising function in support of our local MP who is an awful lot better than the previous one.

I am impressed with the mild banter over a plate of fish and chips, to hear a pretty bird talk (tweet?) I have learnt some eating habits which I shall put into practice when I have my next fundraiser on my balcony. Where is Vanessa on this?
