Crafting in Brentford

This Thursday 18 October we will be holding our first craft meet up at the Brentford Dock Club Room from 15:30 to 17:30. Please get in contact if you are interested in quilting, sewing, knitting, crochet etc. It'll be an informal meet up where we can share ideas and learn from each other!

Yes indeed Audrey...I believe you may have been a consultant / advisor!  We know of your own crafting skills!Keith, you'll be pleased to hear that the Grand Tortoise appeared on the Chiswick Forum meet up thread a week ago... and is reproduced here using the cyberspace technology Hugh taught me!.The Grand Tortoise is into fine habits already..here supping a drink at the new bistro in Chiswick. (Just type Le Tortoise into Google Images!)

Peter from Pickwick's on the Devonshire Road has very kindly said that we can use their back room next Wednesday 7 November, 18:00 - 20:00. There's no charge except to buy a drink! There's room for a comfortable 8, possibly ten around a bench type table so not really room for sewing machines. But plenty of room for hand sewing, knitting, chatter etc!Do let me know in good time if you will attend so that we have an idea of how many to expect. So far we have 5 confirmed. lovely idea I moved from Cambridgeshire to London 7 years ago and searched without success for a club. I will not join you as I am not too mobile at present however I have lots of material  bits and pieces, patterns, etc if anyone would like to visit me and have a rumage they are quite welcomed. I live near Boston Manor station.Anyone wants my projects to sell for Charity or school funds

I need someone to make a toy tortoise for me..for a shop window project I have in mind!You know..stuffed with filling...patchwork shell in browns and green...and a cheeky face with red lips...and very realistic.Of course I'll pay. I'm not broke yet..even after picking up a £40 parking fine in Brentford's Community car park this lunchtime...because I chatted with a friend over the dining table too long. Some people "swear" at the Police and get off. I being sociable for the sake of Community ..get fined. Not right :0(  Donations please to PO Box 1, Isleworth however small!!!

Dear AngelaThanks for your response. This is actually our first meeting and we were going to try out a late afternoon meeting this time and hopefully evening meetings at other times. The group are a mixture of employed and retired people so we know that not everyone will be able to attend every time. We were also rather limited by the availability of the hall on this occasion. Anyway, I hope at some point in the future you'll be able to join us.Best wishesKathryn

While I love the idea of a craft meeting, why pick 1530 - 1730?  Do you only want retired or unemployed people to attend?  Being interested in crafts is not limited only to those of retirement age.  More and more people are getting into crafting in a big way, the vast majority of whom work full time and simply could not attend at those times.  Also lots of mums wouldn't be able to attend either as most would be preparing/cooking the family meal at those times.  I think you may find you get more people in attendance if you consider changing the meeting times to either evening or a weekend.  Either way, I wish you success with it, but I won't be able to attend, I'll be working.
