"I spied ( yesterday ) with my little eye something beginning with C"

Caterpillar?  NoCornish Pasty?  No!Council Car removal truck?  No!!Christmas cards for sale?   NoChampagne bottle?  NoConkers?  NoNo No No..Clue? It's something spotted at Heathrow yesterday..Near Hatton Cross Station..Just behind that Barclays Bank Building....

I had a hunch Iain that it was going to be displayed for the Olympic Games...but obviously not.The last time many of us saw Concorde on the move was when in April some years back it was seen travelling down the Great West Road on roller skates, nearly knocking down the traffic lights at Thornbury Road ..then (at 4.30 in the morning) turning right at Gillette Corner and proceeding down Syon Lane. I was walking under the "trimmed right side wing"(as one does!) and was surprised how it just managed to get over that bridge at Syon Lane Station.Some young girls alighting from a night-bus at Busch Corner had the surprise of their lives at the eye-boggling sight Concorde rolling along!  Historic night that was.

Extract from the Wiki entry for Concorde alongside a small picture.....'Concorde G-BOAB in storage at London Heathrow Airport. This aircraft flew for 22,296 hours between its first flight in 1976 and its final flight in 2000.'I wonder why it is still there? The others are in museums.....

Pleased to have heard from someone.. who reads TW8.com that they got up early and dashed to Hatton Cross..to picture Concorde for themselves...perhaps before it's hidden away..now we have spied on it!I recall a three hour trip on Concorde many years ago... around the Bay of Biscay and then dashing aircraft doing a semi-roll in front of a big crowd at Duxford. My Father had never flown before so for him it was a trip of a lifetime.It was the thrust of this supersonic aircraft that I clearly remember... as it roared from stationary to xxxxxmph down the runway!Did you travel on it?

Concorde is one of those things I never tire of looking at.She is still a breath taking sight after all these years.Great photos Jim.

She was a beauty, all right. I had a tear in my eye as I stood on my balcony and watched her make her last approach to Heathrow.I was once on her flight deck; it was like the Starship Enterprise.
