Hygiene in local food outlets:"Scores on the Doors"

Does the "Scores on the Doors" scheme operate in Brentford and Isleworth or indeed Hounslow for that matter.?Hounslow Council certainly undertake inspections and no doubt sometimes close places down.I visited a wonderful in house Bakery on the A322 near Bisley the other day. The place was busy..the cakes looked fabulous and the hot pies and sandwiches looked a treat. I also returned there when I passed by again 4 hours later. The staff looked impeccably dressed.Interestingly the premises had a Hygiene Certificate affixed to the front window.  Their score? 5 stars.Then, visiting London Road, Isleworth yesterday..near the Fire Station..one couldn't help noticing the excess of fast food shops all in a row.. none looked welcoming... and I always remembera while ago  one guy continually rubbing his moustache whilst he was working at the counter!  I didn't notice any Hygiene Certificates on display either and wonder if this is an a subject that needs attention.  Who are these 2 and 3 star merchants?  We want to avoid them...and we don't want them around either.

Well highlighted Jim.This is something that needs addressing mo.There is a take away on Brentford High St. that,looking at it,I  wouldn't feed my dog from( if I had one).I think they have a hygiene cert or some kind of food handling guff on the wall,but it looks pretty rank in there.

Brilliant Tim!You can't trust anywhere/anything food wise these days.. Do you know I've got moth worms galore in recently purchased porridge!! "Taste the Difference" range too.On arriving home ..the jumbo rolled oat flakes were immediately removed from their carton and sealed wrapped bag and placed in a brand new top of the range "Oxo" storage container...left for 2 months...and blimey a miniature worm farm has evolved!

"Does a food business have to show its rating?No, so if you see a business without a hygiene rating sticker or certificate, you’ll have to decide if you want to eat or buy food from there without knowing the hygiene standards. Putting a hygiene rating on show is a good advertisement for businesses that meet the requirements of food hygiene law. A good food hygiene rating is good for business"As I've said before....NOT COMPULSORY...total waste of money, you couldn't make it up.
