Watching the US Election....

Waiting for Ohio forecast at c.2.30am, anxious times but forecasts look marginally good for Obama. Why do they need to spend over $2 Billion on the campaigns? Not exactly accessable democracy. Mit Romney is truly scary but in truth actual policy plans for the economy are not that different? but foreign policy could be really bad, more US intervention..... Go Obama!

I think the idea is that the logo is subliminal advertising.  Like "Hey look Ethel, that one has got a rose - I think I'll vote for them".

You do have to wonder what bird brain dreamed that one up, and anyway all tellers exchange numbers so it makes no odds.

The current situation as I understand it is that coloured rosettes may be worn by tellers at polling stations but the logos which are usually to be found at the centre of them have to be concealed.  Of course this is quite ridiculous as every voter knows which colour represents which party without having to look at the logo.

I can remember being allowed to wear rosettes with your party and candidates name on them when taking numbers at polling stations but that too went the way of the Dinosaur.

In some states you're not allowed to wear anything (badges, tshirts, etc) to the polling station that endorses a candidate so I imagine the same goes for displaying posters, but I that possibly only controls what happens inside the building.

Lots of things aren't allowed here but I find the police know next to nothing about election law and so it is regularly flouted more or less with impunity.  I would agree that posters at the polling stations would be a total no-no though.

All the polling stations seemed to have election posters outside which would not be allowed here. But to be honest would it really influence anyone at that point?

Delighted with the result - Mitt the Twit frightened the hell out of me. The Republicans should ditch their 'evangelical right', and their attack on women's rights, can't imagine anyone here banging on like they do getting the time of day. Now for Hillary in 2016.

A lot of sour grapes on Fox News this morning about electoral malpractice..... A school used as a polling station had a mural of Obama in the playground. Not right.
