Anyone having brown-outs this evening?

Three in two hours between about 4 and about 6. I rang Southern Electric's emergency helpline and spoke to a very nice woman who said that there was a problem flagged in the area.Thing is, I well remember the constant power cuts of the 70s, but I was young then. Now I am middle aged and want heat, light and The Killing on telly.

The woman at SE said something about the computer. Maybe the power is cut for a fraction of a second when changing generators/suppliers. All okay since, anyway. Touch wood.

I once went on holiday to Spain and stayed in the back of beyond and water was available 7am-11am and then from 5-9.Electricity supply was more temperemental than Naomi Campbell.The brandy and  was first class though.

No - all fine in darkest Isleworth (sorry) although our water disappeared for about half an hour on Friday - most odd.

It's just lights flickering for less than a second, but nerve racking, especially three times in two hours. Nothing for two and a half hours now so fingers crossed.

Just asked hubby what a brown out was and he suggested I look it up - so now I know! ... from Wikipedia"A brownout is an intentional or unintentional drop in voltage in an electrical power supply system".In answer to your question, Susan, we are okay - fingers crossed though!  We had lots of power cuts [black outs ...  :-)] earlier in the year which caused chaos for the elderly folk nearby.  We now have torches and have put in an old fashioned fire for heat, should it happen again!  Hope you are back in full power by now.
