Boris 60+ Plus Travel Bribe...

Boris has made good on one of his election promises. (Unlike on Affordable Housing which IMHO is a bit more important) If like me you are caught in the middle of the transition from Freedom Pass eligible at 60 to eligible at 65 Boris has introduced a London free pass for anyone caught by the move to restricting Freedom Pass to 65+ only. Given the Co-Allitions hints about ending Universal non means tested benefits for pensioners this might seem a bit odd.... However, I attempted to apply for my photo card 60+ Oyster tonight. You need a passport or driving licence. Plus a digital photo (Passport style). The site says you can mail a non digital photo which was my preference. Dooh, site reaches a dead end if you do not upload a photo, no advice about mailing an image by snail mail.Anyone else had more success?

They ought to be able to pick up a photo from the passport office or DVLA as the normal Freedom Pass does. Simpler and quicker to allow them to do that surely. When I swapped my paper licence for a photo one last year, I gave them permission to use my passport photo; it meant that the whole process could be done online and I had my new licence in days.Yes, it is a bribe. Probably quite an effective one for a demographic that's likely to vote.
