Gissa job Boris

£20.000 for one day a week because I messed up the job big time when I wasn't being paid. Oh! and by the way I have a record of financial "irregularities". Obviously there was absolutely no-one else who'd want to do one day a week for such a paltry sum.

A cocktail of people and institutions have done this to us,international global capitalismthe politics of envy and  being the main ones.The EEC, Tony Blair and us having borders that are so insecure it's a joke also figure largely in the equation.It is hard to see how we can put a stop to this decline into madness.It would take a brave and committed political will to remedy the situation imho.

Not you're not alone in thinking this is just another PR waste of tax payers money exercise.Weren't G4S the outfit that gave false promises, no doubt via a tendering exercise, for the Olympics but failed to deliver?And don't mention A4E to me.  A4E doesn't 'find' jobs for the long-term unemployed but 'enables' them to find work.  I've been on an A4E 'course' as I've been out of work for more than six months.  Because 'we're all in this together' even though I've worked for forty odd years so've paid NI and I've been lumbered in an outfit with a non-English trainer who's admitted working 'cash in hand' in the restaurant industry.  And the rest of the shower on this course aren't much better:  there are only three of us that are native English speakers - four if I mention the Yank.  One young lad just needs a break but he's too open about himself.  The rest are just 'benefitters'.  The timid, middle-aged, Pollak who can speak better Greek than English who's looking for a cleaning job but never actually worked in this country; the two young Indians who are looking for call centre positions but their English is so poor you might as well be speaking with someone in Bangladesh; the Iranian who claims to have been in this country since the late nineties but has never actually worked in this country and even has fake ID and then the Palestinian who claimed he'd been a mini-cab driver even though he couldn't read and write English.  Before I even mention the African female who's rolled up late every day and pushing her buggy but sporting a rather impressive diamond ring but sat huddled in a coat that rarely met across her bloated stomach.  All these people are claiming benefit.  Same as me.  But I’ve worked for years paying into the system.  How can this lot claim the same as me?Three-quarters of the course attendees were not home grown .Who opened the borders for the rest of the world’s dreck to flood in?

Just listening on the BBC that G4S are one of the companies being considered to take over from the probation service under this bonkers 'payment by results' scheme of monitoring offenders. Am I alone in not feeling very confident about this latest scam which won't save money anyway? If this is as dire as the A4E cobblers where a private outfit finds jobs instead of the DWP then it will be another balls-up, when will the muppets that are in  government finally admit that public does not mean bad and private certainly doesn't mean good. Ideology should not be allowed to put public safety at risk, but it will nonetheless.

It's always been 'jobs for the boys' in the boys network but I'd love to have seen that Ray Lewis have to sign on because no-one else would employ him.  But this is indicative of all the political parties these days not just lib dem and conservative but labour as well.Livingstone did the same for some of his cronies.  And is that useless Gordon Brown down the job centre or has someone given him a paid position he can't mess up?  Did Harold Wilson end up on the welfare?  Perhaps it'd open the eyes of some of these failed politians if they did have to attend the job centre and see some of the 'benefitters' who turn up to claim these state hand-outs. The tax credit nonsense is just another cop-out.  When was that introduced?  And by whom?  It just allows companies to pay their employers the minimum wage and expect the government to pick up the tab so the company can show increase in company’s profits.  Tax credits should be removed. Immediately.  And then let’s see what happens.      Oh, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who shouts at their TV.

Exactly - but we know we'll get something back from the NHS and it is a future investment. I have never known so much derision and shouting at the T.V. in our house than I have in the last few days, and normally there's quite a bit! What is happening is unforgiveable, making people who get benefits out to be pariahs, yes, there are some on the fiddle but the vast majority are not, where tax credits are concerned all they do is subsidise employers who won't pay a decent living wage, so this won't affect them only the poor bloody employee yet again. So much for helping the 'strivers'. What about our £4 billion subsidy to the privatised railways? Any chance we'll find out just what happens to that when they're declaring dividends? I can hardly wait for the next elections - woe betide any Tory or Lib Dem moron who canvasses at our house!

I agree Vanessa they should be going after the Vodafones of this world with a vengeance.I don't think the bank bail out can be in any way equated with the cuts to the nhs,drastic tho' they are. The money hasn't been given to the banks but loaned unless I have missed something.When we will get it back God only knows.

I also noted that David Lawes big time chum of Cleggy has crept back - what do these people have to do to get the boot permanently? Can you help me with this question - if the government can bail out the banks to the tune of millions of pounds of our money, why the hell can't they bail out the NHS hospital trust that's in in debt instead of threatening services at Lewisham hospital to help pay for it?? They might think they're going to 'save' all this money from their attack on welfare, but still they don't go after Vodaphone for a cool £6 billion which would not only pay for the welfare cuts to be reinstated but leave them with a couple of billion in small change. One of my sons thinks our cats would run the country far better - I'm beginning to think he has a valid point.

It is outrageous you are right.I don't have much time for either of them,but didn't Ken also have some toe-curling amounts paid to cronies and dodgy groups? Allegedly.It's 'jobs for the boys'whichever side of the political spectrum they are from.We are only taken any notice of come election time.
