"More importantly, the bully got away with that behaviour once, will try it with someone else."Kathy, this Manager may even have a pattern of doing this in the past, before you.Often this sort of bully has a way of deflecting their own poor job performance by isolating another person and getting everyone to focus on the wrong area.It would be great to be a this persons line manager to turn validating questions back on the bully but only in an open discussion as I bet you don’t know the half of what this person has been telling other people to lead them to believe ill of you, and I bet the other people have been too subjective, happy to be led astray and willing to believe your line manager, even fooled into believing that this person has done their job as your Manager.Unless the issues are faced and addressed one by one, neither you nor your employer will be clear to move on.Kathy I hope you find something to build on your strengths and to convince yourself that you really can do your job after having this person in your work space. I personally wish you every happiness.[First-hand experience of totally ineffectual manager whose next line manager refused to manage his manager]
