Heathrow Flightpath - Noise Insulation Scheme

"Any Syon residents heard anything ? (other than the 0430 wake-up call. I thought it odd that the wind only blew from the west between 0430 and 0600 today !)

> I thought it odd that the wind only blew from the west between 0430 and 0600 today !The wind on Sunday night and early yesterday morning was northerly, so landings would have been westerly as per the night alternation programme.  By breakfast time the wind had veered NNE, so I would guess that 6am was judged to be a convenient time to swap to easterly landings.

Well whatever it is I am regularly woken at 5:45 whereas before I wasn't.Planes are also more regular,about every 90 seconds until about 7:45-8.00 some mornings.I also work nights so I 'enjoy' the midday plane noise too when I am trying to sleep.

The trials should have had no effect at all on noise before 0600 and as the pre-trial arrangements for the hour between 0600 and 0700 already allowed two runway operation , I don't think it should be held to blame for noise before 0700 !I found it interesting that the alternation schedule was already so disrupted that the Heathrow market researchers had difficulty finding anyone who knew that they should be getting 8 hours respite a day.I had the BAA scheme double glazing two years ago and I now can't hear any street traffic in the bedroom - but I can still hear the 747's arrive at 0430 !Have you seen the first stage night flights consultation ?Amongst other things it asks for opinions on trading daytime respite for less night noise..... And it will take views on this into account, together with the results of the trials , in coming up with proposals for the second stage consultation later.

Thanks for the heads up on this Tim.We too have had a lot more early morning noise in the last year due I would think to the trials.I did apply for the last insulation scheme but our house was about 75 yds outside the caa grid for noise.No negotiation,it was set in stone and no account for wind direction or slight variation in actual flight position of the aircraft.
