A decent cup of char and a fresh bagette in Brentford.

You drop your car off ..for a wash and brush upat that place near the Brewery Tap in Catherine Wheel Road.(Very good they are too. Even the Green Tomato cars go there)Then you have to fiddle around for half an hour until it's ready.Better not go to the Tap for a pint... it's a cup of tea I fancy!Where do you go in Brentford High Street?The Docking Place was closed (all day) for starters...and I'm not going to that dreadful Jennys place across the road.Scratch head!

It is actually possible to have a healthy fry up Andrea. However, one needs to have organic sausages, eggs etc. and fry them in a decent oil.Probably not going to happen in a "caf" near you soon but certainly possible.PS. Did you know that drinking a big glass of Tropicana fruit juice in the morning will likely make you fat?

Andrea - Maison Cafe not only serves fry ups but a range of other delicious healthy food too. Plus free newspapers to read and friendly staff. Do give them a try.

Pity that what started off catching my interest 'what, somewhere is Brentford that isn't just a typical greasy 'al spoon, descended into pictures of that time old artery clogging grease fest. Come on Brentford, let's have a decent cafe!

It is indeed a shame when someone takes a chance on a small business like this and it doesn't work out.Rents could well be a factor as another very good food outlet on that parade,the Coffee Pot(best Thai food for miles and a good English breakfast too)used to open at night but the rents were increased to such a level that this became untenable.Just open 7-3 now.

Amongst the rows of ghastly fast food shops with their gaudy signage, and scruffy clientele on the London Road near the Fire Station, appeared, some months back, a new family business (Father and daughter) selling Jacket Potatoes and salads, fresh sandwiches and light meals.I'd enjoyed a few "pit stops" there on my travels. But today I found it closed. The owner's dream had come to an end.The passing trade preferred junk food. What a shame. The cafe is now a Charity Shop. I think we're doomed!

It was a pleasure to meet you on that occasion Mark..it was deep into the afternoon wasn't it?  :0)Some years back I was served an attractive dish at that cafe next to the Magpie & Crown.  Glad my Doctor didn't walk in!The sight of those eggs aroused excitement around the world when the picture was posted in cyberspace.But such dishes are now banned!

The eggs look just fine to me but the toms are undercooked and the black pudding and mushrooms cremated...

The 50 year old Boston Cafe near the Station is a favourite ..and Age Concern cafe in Albany Road is fine too.But The Maison Cafe footed the bill exactly. Char and a baguette... play with the smartphone and gaze at the Routemaster...and then off to collect the shiny clean car.

I found a seat and the top tea and a wonderfully freshbaguette was delivered to the table. I was in heaven!No! I was in Brentford High Street.Look! even your favourite postman goes there!

I opened the door..it was "packed" and every table was occupied.  That was a good sign.Delightful waitress..and a smart guy running it. It's probably been there years.Great tea bags! and a full Mug too 10/10.
