resurfacing brentford streets

I saw a leaflet in the pub yesterday, I think a Labour one announcing resurfacing of several streets locally.Upon cycling about, I noticed that three of the worst roads are not on the list yet several with good surfaces are on the list.Albany Road is all over the place with subsidence, knackered kerbs  and gulleys that run water away from the drains. Likewise, bits of Brook road. Lateward road is full of potholes and on the safe cycling route!!Ealing Road and South Ealing Road to the Hounslow boundary are so bad as to be positively lethal for cyclists and anyone trying to stand on the 65 bus.But Braemar road? It's well above average albeit patched but within a few year will be ripped to bits by demolition and construction works.That seems like a complete waste of money. It will need completely redoing afterwards.Who drew up such a half cocked list?

Twickenham Road between Busch Corner and the junction with Park Road is appalling, and presents such a hazard to cyclists that it is a major accident waiting to happen.

I always am amazed at how they will do a repair and partially paint a road marking leaving the rest of it worn and faded.The amount of patched road is sometimes almost bizarreLower South Ealing Road looks like Grandma Walton's patchwork quilt. Must be 200 different patches over 400m

Mogden Lane/Whitton Dene is once again in a dreadful state having only been partially re-surfaced a couple of years ago. But - lo! We saw a repair crew out on Saturday morning, don't get excited, yesterday we could see they'd only done about a dozen small patch repairs leaving some atrocious parts undone. Please someone what was the point of that? What a complete waste, seems to me as a member of the great British public you either do the job properly or don't bother.

The pavements were wrecked by the installation of new water mains and other new ducting.Problem is that everything subsides with settlement and this takes a year or three. By then the contractors are long gone and the councils are unable to get the damage remedied.The contracts for rectification work due to ground disturbance should be extended to at least 5 years and surfaces photographed recorded before works commence.The pavement in Grosvenor road is particularly bad now and many use this to get to the park. There are regular tumbles usually children tripping on uneven pavers.In Brook road the settlement makes the pavements a minefield of puddles when it rains.I've called the water contractors several times and they did come once and replace 2 broken flagstones but not the other 23 that have cracked since they did the works.As for the resurfacing, It seems very odd that Braemar road is to be resurfaced  when it is to be decimated by huge tricks in a few years time. Would it not be better to deal with the worst roads first and rebuild Braemar after the works?Albany road by the Fish and Chip shop is a rollercoaster... but it does at least keep the speeds of the boy racers down!

Is it me or are there more 'end of budget year, use up the kitty' road works going on? Not specific to LBH.

My husband who works in a different borough inspected a recently repaired highway only to find that the kerbstones also were damaged and needed replacement. They now have to dig up the newly repaired road to replace the kerbs! Now, I would think that if I'd been sent down to do this job I'd have contacted someone prior to even getting out of the van to let someone know about this in order to save time and money. Simples!!!

My road is a quiet crescent and I would say we don't get more than a couple of dozen cars a day that don't belong to houseowners and the road gets resurfaced.As I said before,the footpath is a different matter.

Unfortunately there is a maintenance programme but there doesn't seem to be a common sense mechanism that can say - actually that road doesn't get as much wear as so and so one so we'll leave this and do the one that really needs it. It's obvious to most of us that the more traffic there is the worse the wear, therefore the more frequently a road will need repairing, if only the powers that be worked like that........

They did this to my street and it was totally uneccessary imo.The pavements are holed and cracked but it's the roads they resurface.I don't remember being cobnsulted in any way either.THey move in mysterious ways,however slowly...
