Names for possible Brentford Pier please.

In Wiki it says: "The Greek author Polyaenus relates an anecdote in his Stratagemata that Caesar overcame Cassivellaunus's defence of a river crossing by means of an armoured elephant. This outlandish claim probably derives from a confusion with the Roman conquest of 43 AD, when Claudius is supposed to have brought elephants to Britain." So why not call it 'The Elephant Pier' and brand/design it accordingly, or something else more contemporary? NOTHING WITH THE WORD KEW IN ! hahhaa...........

should be simply called Brentford Pier just as Kew Pier at the other side of the river is called Kew Pier.

I think that's a great idea,when you consider that Brentford in History is the second metropole of England. Being that e Parliament actually sat at Syon House not this one which was built around 1760 by the Percy's. Both the Royal Household and  the House of Commons removed themselves down here because of both the Great Fire of London and Plague(Black Death).Then we have St.Stephens Church Tower built in the 7th Century,we know it as St.Lawrences in the High Street. Prince Rupert was captured at the High Ground just before The Albany Parade and held in the old Red Lion during the Civil War, so yes The "Brentford"name would be well used.

I don't live in Brentford (but pretty close by) - Brentford Pier says it all.  Has anyone proposed this to the powers that be yet?

Maybe, if politics must be part of the naming, then the Keen Pier. No recent MP has done so much to remind everyone of how close Brentford is to the London. A fitting memory if the pier is used for commuter traffic.

I like the historical name but I don't think it would ever get used properly.Even if it had the Roman era name, it does not lead to the expectation is creates of a roman or anglo ruin, More a Prescott Era ruin.Maybe Brentford Pier and the Saxon name as a sub name

I would rather it was called after a famous figure from history who defended Brentford from the Romans,Cassevillanous.I hope too that some of the other famous historical figure who have lived or are associated with Brentford are commemorated in the new development somehow.Pocahontas,Turner,Brunel to name 3.

Brentford, the capital of Middlesex, is SO much older than the Roman age or London or Kew. 'Brentford Pier' is good, or perhaps 'Old England pier' or then again it could be the name of the Knight who gave Lot's ait to the people of Brentford, I can't remember his name but it's all on his memorial in the church at Putney Bridge (Fulham side). Please no to Caesar & PLEASE NO TO KEW. Mere Johnny come lateleys.
