Dog Bin

I am not sure how many of you have walked the footpath that cuts threw Mogden Sewage Works between Oak lane and Mogden Lane, but every where you look owners have tied Doggy Bags full of their Dogs business on the Fence, put it threw the fence or on the floor its disgusting.I reported it last week to the council who say they will go down and clear it up.2wks ago a Man allowed his dog to do its business in the middle of the pathway and just walked away and left it.I asked the council why there is no doggy bin down that pathway seeing how it is a Doggy area and i was told they don't put Doggy bins on footpaths.I know its wrong but i can understand why owners are just bagging up the dog mess and throwing it on the floor or tying it to the fence, who would want to carry a bag of Dog mess around with them till they get home. Surely a doggy bin in this area would be better then having to send someone down there all the time to clean it up?

Simon,get on to your local councillors as there is currently still approximately £100,000 unspent S106 money for enviromental improvements in this area from when Thames Water were awarded the expansion planning permission and frankly its a scandal that this has still not been spentThis is yet another example of residents losing out on various S106 payments in all parts of the Borough because on so many occasions they are never spent in the timescale allocated

I would think that this comes under hazardous waste, would you like to have to clear it up in large quantities? Damned if I would, especially given what the street cleaners are paid.

Jim No its Hounslow Council as i spoke to them and they were going to send someone down to clear it up. I find it funny that every week there is a Street Cleaner that goes down there but fails to do these bags.

I see you to have noticed the now habitual tip toe through the dog poo on Burford Road - that seems to be from flats 3 or 7, or Hope Close.  It is far too regular for it to be a coincidence that more than one person's dog is messing in the same spot of pavement.  As for installing CCTV - the Burford Road estate seems to be monitored from every angle.  Combine that with the fact that the estate has a manager and there are a number of council departments operating on the estate (and directly on Burford Road), and it would seem they are none too bothered about dog mess on the pavements.... otherwise it wouldn't still be there. I'm sure there must be something in people's tenancy agreement about standards of behaviour etc (unless of course it is a rtb resident, in which case what action could the estate management take?).

Gather a group of concerned local residents together and lie in wait and confront this horrible man and his shitty dog!  Would a citizen's arrest be legal?

I would imagine their homes are spotless.  If they throw it into trees then they would appear to work on the "out of sight, out of mind" principle and therefore probably chuck it into their neighbours' gardens.Incidentally, at the junction of Green Dragon Lane and Hope Close in Brentford a fresh consignment of dog mess arrives on the pavement each and every morning without fail.  Clearly it is part of somebody's routine to take their dog to the exact same spot every day for its constitutional, and the presence of CCTV all around the estate seems neither to deter them nor to result in any kind of sanction.

Makes you shudder to think what their homes are like doesn't it? What is it that makes seemingly civilised people behave like cretins rather than take their pet's waste away and dispose of it properly - probably the same ones who whinge on about the state of the streets!

Try walking along the towpath on the Surrey side of the river. The dog poo does get picked up & bagged but the owners then throw them into the trees! Lovely sight seeing bags of dog s@@t hanging from the branches!

Yes it is madness, be cheaper 4 a camera and to Fine those responsible also with a Camera people wont do it no more so the Council wont have to come out and clear it up so there wont be a cost...

Good Luck with the camera idea. I have suggested umpteen times that mobile CCTV is used to see who keeps fly tipping outside the furniture recycling project, but it seems the pillocks at Hounslow would far rather keep coming out and picking it up at taxpapyers expense. Madness.

Vanessa i totally agree with you, over the years i have been on TV and in Papers complaining about this issue. We have a dog and before he goes out we put bags in our pocket and we clean up after him and if there are no bins around we bring it home and bin it. But this Footpath is used by people to look at the River Life etc i just feel a bin would benefit but you are correct, i feel a Camera system down there and fines given to those who act irresponsible.

Simon, You have to understand that some dog owners are just totally selfish and irresponsible individuals. If you have a dog then you should clear up after it and take the results home to dispose of them, as many people do, why do people suppose that some authority must always provide for them? I can see why councils may be wary of putting dog bins on footpaths - not necessarily nice for other pedestrians, but they are by the riverside and in parks. This is a health hazard and very unpleasant and my view is if you are not prepared to clear up your dog's cr*p then don't have a dog, it goes with all the other responsibilities of having a pet.
