Simon, I have not said YOU should give up luxuries, I said that people that complain about paying the bedroom tax and have those kind of items then THEY should stop!! Re-read what I said!! I have not been brainwashed by any government, I have a mind of my own, and have worked since I left school in 1986, and have only been off to have my children, which was not covered with benefits.... I told you that I was working, so why you bring that up I have no clue??You have sat there and sad basically bully for me that I work etc, you make the incorrect assumption that ALL PEOPLE that work can afford luxuries like holidays etc, well I sure as hell can't and that is what I was responding to!! I still stand by MY OPINION that if you do not have residency then you pay the bedroom tax. That room is empty for 26 weeks of the year.... so in a fair compromise I believe you should pay half of the tax, and if your ex is in the same position they she should pay it too.... YOU mentioned about being only able to take holidays when they are through the Sun (which I hasten to add aren't free) well its the same for me, and millions of other people, not everyone who works can afford things and more so than people on benefits....Yes I believe that a computer is a luxury and I will stick to that as every library has free access to computers so there is no need for someone to pay for a computer, nor the internet line.. Again another saving. Finally as for saying that you have said something that you haven't if you could take the time to re-read my post I have replied to remarks you and others have made as I don not see the point in posting 10 times when I can address everything in one post.

Firstly i came on here to share the fact i had 2 pay the bedroom tax whilst having joint custody of my Son, you then started Expressing that i should stop buying Luxuries then i could pay the Tax. So i replied (as this is a Discussion forum) by saying i cant afford Luxuries but my Ex Wife could.I was not moaning i was just replying back to what you stated, because there are many people out there who have been Brainwashed by this Government to Jump on those on Benefits backs and i was just making a point that not Everyone on Benefits are Scroungers or can Buy Luxuries or go on Holidays that's all. I never accused u off anything i just answered your Post. I never made any comment about you not being on Benefits how could I as i don't know you or your Financial Status weather u work or not.I have NOT slated you for what you have done and Achieved either so please stop accusing me off saying stuff ive not.I never said the Benefit problem was your Fault either as to  addressing it in my court Order it doesn't work like that its a Government ruling nothing a court can do, i only discussed my situation on here because the Topic was about the Hateful and wrong Bedroom tax and i was sharing the fact that people who have Joint Custody should be Exempt but i agreed with it in other areas as this is a Discussion forum to hear all sides weather you agree or disagree with the comments made everyone has a right to their opinion so ive not said you shouldn't.I don't get where you are coming from about People working and Free Tickets etc etc, I never Beat you with a stick..Anyone can collect Token for Free Tickets it don't matter if u work or Not i Brought up the Free Ticket thing to show i cant afford to do things like that otherwise i don't see how that is beating you up with a stick.U seem 2 b saying i dont like u because u work...I have never said that and i know people who work can be worse off and struggle so i don't knock anyone who work hard, for instance ive stated manytimes that Nurses should be paid more because they work so hard and long Hours and they should be respected back, Our Armed forces should be paid more because they are the Best, and they protect our country so we an live our Lives. The only ones i slate who work (well if u call it work) is MP's. Yes i have a Computer and yes i agree its a Luxury, but so is a TV...I don't ave issues with people with computers because they are a good thing. So please stop saying ive said stuff which ive not!!

As usual my comments are taken out of context.... I said that your ex made stipulations and you have chosen not to take them into account, good for you. I did not at any point say that you had to do anything... I said you chose to do that, and never made any derogatory comment about it.I AM NOT labelling all people on benefits as the same, I am being slated now for having an opinion which in this day and agae, I thought was my right, but clearly not... You make out that because I am not on benefits that I can afford all the things you list in your post but I can't, I'm not going to go into the self pity of I can't do this, I can't have that, my kids cant do this and that because I as an adult have made these choices, no one has made them for me. The same as your ex wife, if she was going on forums moaning that she has no money etc then I sure as hell would comment to her as well, but she hasn't. You put the post up and then don't appreciate or allow any one elses opinions!! I'm not here to gain self pity from anyone, I am merely commenting on my personal experience as you have.I like to cause contreversy as you have in the past and I am more than happy to take the criticism but dont tar me with a brush you have no right to hold!!I work hard to give my children what I didn't have, and you are slating me for doing that, comical really because I'm doing the same as you but with my own hands...As for the benefits, I havent made this ruling, goverment has, nothing I can do or say will change that, so there is little point in bringing that into the argument... If there was a problem this is something that you should've ironed out in court with an order, not gripe about it now...There are plenty of people out there who are on benefits, and who are working who rely on things like free tickets, reduced priced holidays, just so that they can get to do these things so dont use that as a stick to beat me with because it doesn't work...Just because I work, doesn't mean I have luxuries, not by any means... put I am sure you have a computer/smart phone on which to post all of these comments so you do have one luxury :)

Kathy..Firstly its a Joy, Pleasure and Honor to have my son so that's not the issue. My issue is the Fact the mum gets Benefits 2 look after him for 7 days but only has him half of that each week so u could say she is over paid. I also feel if you have Joint Custody (with Court order) then the Benefit should be shared. You said "i have to" no i said I had 2 pay the TAX not have my Son. You said my  X Wife placed Stipulations no that's not in my Court order. I just asked her a couple times about giving me some of our Son's benefit and she said NO..But hey she smoke and drinks, can afford to go pubs and Nightclubs every week and trips up 2 London 4 the day with mates whilst on Benefits but that's Ok aint it?Secondly you say give up the Luxuries - I like to know what Luxury's you want me to give up as i don't get any.I don't Smoke, Drink or Drive. I don't eat sweets or chocolate. Not been on Holiday in 3yrs (and that was a wkend in Plymouth with a Relative) My wife and i whom have been together/Married for 4yrs has never had a Honeymoon or a Night out. The last time we went to the movies was 3yrs ago with Free tickets from the Sun. Last Year my Mum, sister, Niece and my Son went Legoland (with Free tickets from the sun) i couldn't go because of my Health and i had no money. Come to my house i have no carpet in my Living room or hallway, My sofa cover is ripped and 1 of the seat areas Springs have gone (been like it for a year now), My walls need Repainting. My Mobility scooter needs a New Battery. So Luxury's i do not have because i cant afford them. So don't label everyone on Benefits as the same as we are NOT!! Ohh not to mention that every week i go out on My scooter picking up dirty, Smelly Beer cans to Recycle over at Tesco so i can get Points on My clubcard to help us out, I also buy the Very cheep Foods (Tesco Value) so please Dont knock all off us as the same.

Vanessa,I agree with quite a lot of your response, except(starting with the old bat)Unfortunately there is no longer a vibrant and plentiful rented sector within the EU purely because of the austerity measures imposed by the troika, jobs are at an all time low, people are committing suicide because they are being evicted, why because they can either no longer afford to pay the rent or their mortgage repayments.Families have no choice but to live out of their cars unfortunately they no longer have jobs and compared to our benefit theirs is negligible.Soup Kitchens are an every day thing over there fortunately at least they get to eat sometimes, food banks also, it is a very sad state of affairs, where once these countries maybe were not the richest in the world at least when they had their own currency there appeared to be lots of work about and poverty was not a common word. Then they joined the EU a wonderful club where life would be even better under one currency???I often wonder why we in the South have to pay so very much more than our Northern compatriots,go up there and you can buy a house for approx £40-£60k and yet here a 1 bedroom flat costs in excess of £150k, 2 bedroom across from us went for £243k how are youngsters who are just starting out expected to be able to afford this even if they are lucky enough to obtain a mortgage. One premise that I have is that Labour permitted migrants to buy their council property within 3 years and then went back to their own country rich! thus a shortage of council homes. The majority of ex-council-home owners bought their properties purely because they wanted to live where they were and improve their lifestyle or try to.

A large proportion of Council homes in Brentford have off street parking. A far higher ratio than in the private home stock. So far fewer council tenants will ever have to pay for permits. But what is the difference between a council tenant and a private resident or tenant renting a council garage? Why should a council tenant get a 50% discount? The assumption that everyone living in a council house is below the poverty line is far from the truth. My parents live in a council house. My father was a teacher my mother a GP.But with 3 kids and no assets, never qualified for a mortgage. They are long retired but they still live in their council house and they still get automatic discounts for things like the garage. But they foster and still use the house fully. But soon they might have to call that a day and then what?Their neighbour was a factory worker also retired he does OK too. A good pension and low rent.  But the income gap is not even comparable. So the housing was there for those who could not afford otherwise. Whilst opportunity beckoned for many for a  couple of decades, we are now in a crazy situation of a  huge raft of people who theoreticaly are on good incomes but will never be able to afford to buy a home in their home district .We have planning permission and recommendations for way too many overpriced luxury developments which are being bought by foreign investors and by parents using the huge values of their properties as collatteral. But most are caught in a void. There are too many who are living in council properties who are getting them too cheap. But those who are not in that bracket and have genuine low incomes need to be protected properly. Those over 65 should be safe as those who have lived over 15 years. The human factor of a place being home must be considered. But when it comes to extras, like garages the rent should be the same.

Personally I think it's a good idea badly thought-out even though, at the moment, I'm one of the people who does have an extra room in a council rented property and am, at present, claiming benefits but the little bit of rent I now have to pay each week is manageable.  But too little; too late.  There are under-occupied four bedroomed properties near where I live, mine's a two-bed-roomed flat, but as the people living in the four bedroomed places are a couple of years older than me and are now classed as pensioners they do not contribute to this system and there is nothing in place to move them on - the four bed-roomed town-houses round here are on three levels and very difficult to manage. And there we hit another crux - the managing of someone else's property - and Hounslow Homes are very remiss in what is and is not acceptable in properties rented from them and charging a fiver out of someone's benefit doesn't cover the damage some tenants like to inflict on the property rented to them.  Only today I've witnessed a newcomer round here pumping concrete all over his little garden. Then we come to the council tax demands - I've had to read through mine a few times as I thought I'd have to be finding an extra twenty pounds a week - and it starts thus: 'you do not have the right to appeal against the fact that you now have to pay something or an increased amount, towards your Council Tax simply because of the Council's local scheme' - take up the grammatical errors with Hounslow Council - and I'm still not sure if I have to find an extra twenty odd pounds a week to pay for this or that is the amount awarded to me but I do find it amiss they mention and seem to use my DLA (disability living allowance) amounts as income.  I need to read through it a few more times to really get the gist of what they're on about.
