How kind of Iain Duncan Smith to apparently offer up yet more cuts to the welfare budget to 'fund cops and the army'. He is reported to have contacted Theresa May and Philip Hammond to offer up the cuts. But, if ever a statement was guaranteed to show up how out of touch our government is it's this one from a senior Conservative source: "It is now a simple choice, Iain Duncan Smith has offered a deal which will protect the country's security. The Lib Dems will block it and it will be for them to explain why it is more important for teenagers to be given council flats rather than for the nation to be protected".Two things - how low can policiticians sink to use the awful events in Woolwich as a reason to inflict more misery on people already struggling to cope?Where are all these council flats being given to teenagers?

Sorry I can't help thinking that they are all part of the same.  I don't want to watch the news or read the 'latest headline' as they just do not (either side) speak the same language as me.

Couldn't agree more.  And the "senior Conservative source" has ably demonstrated the way in which the Conservatives as a party work and think in coalition.
