This morning's Heston Village fire: Very sad News.

Heston down is just down the road from Brentford and Osterley.Amongst the parade of shops opposite  the Church a tragic fire seems to have started around 1.30am today  in one of  the flats above according to news reports on Google.One can see sheets and perhaps curtains hanging from windows to the pavement below to aid escapes from  the raging fire.Sadly 2 people are reported to have died (one body in the flat and another on the pavement below) and 2 others injured.Surrounding roads are closed, buses are on diversion, nearby and shops closed and  teams of fire and police officers remainI passed by at 11.30pm last night and all was peaceful...in contrast to the scene at 9am when bedlam seem to have prevailed.Fingers crossed for the survivors.

The Police and Fire Brigade officials are still at the scene this evening and in some cases are asking questions of passers by and local shopkeepers as there are reports of suspicions  I heard direct from those on the case.It seems that the authorities are wanting to learn from anyone in our region to help with their enquiries. The Evening Standard can't possibly be described as "covering it extensively" They firstly said the fire was in Hounslow..and then that it occurred in Church Road. That would have foxed anyone reading it.MY PICTURE showing the HESTON VILLAGE War Memorial in NEW HESTON ROAD would have been readily identified by many and perhaps been helpful in getting them to come forward to give "knowledge".The pictures would also remind everyone about the dangers of fire. It can be lethal. Checking your exits for starters should such a thing happen at your abode.Anyway Christopher I hope you will equally complain to all the National Press and media for their  "distasteful and goulish" behavior this evening and tomorrow morning when their pictures appear. They will no doubt just show the fire but not the War Memorial.I posted my pictures here as it's a Heston LBH news item.tragic and sad, and if it was arson then it has had immeasurable knock-on effects amongst traders, residents and travellers.We wish the seriously injured best wishes for a recovery..and condolences to all friends and families of those involved.

This is very sad news indeed and has been covered extensively on the BBC news and also the Evening Standard.Sorry Jim, but I find it distasteful that you feel the need to take photos of the scene and post them on here, it really doesn't seem to serve any purpose and is ghoulish to say the least.

And very much why we must have a fire service that can get to these tragic situations as fast as possible and equipped for such situations.But there are so many places in Heston and Hounslow that look like accidents waiting to happen I hope this leads to a tightening up on basic safety so no-one else endures such tragedy.

Terrible. Shocking for everyone.Not related to this incident but please be careful what you have on your windowsill when the sun is so bright and hot as it has been recently.  The sun together with glass and/or mirrors can cause fires.

Notice the curtains hanging outside the first floor windows...then sadly the battered phonebox that a falling and escaping body had hit... perhaps from the second floor.A very sad incident which is being subjected to much investigation
