Loo Question

Here's a question ...A somewhat worried looking elderly lady stopped me in the High Street near the Post Office yesterday and asked me if there were any toilets nearby.I had to stop and think ...* there used to be some by St Paul's Rec. - but the bus company seems to have bought them and turned them into a mess room.* there is one of those automatic ones by Goddards - but I think you need a special key which wheelchair users can get.* Morrisons used to have customer toilets - but they've closed them.* there's some pubs nearby - but not everyone feels comfortable going into a pub alone and the nearest one wasn't give off a very welcoming vibe.* McDonalds are normally a safe bet, but too far from the High St.In the end I had to say "Sorry, not sure - maybe try one of the cafes or pubs?"Was there a better answer I could have given?

What was it? £2 million on the Square and fountains, surely they afford a few bob for a public loo nearby???

I thought that Age Concern moved from there ages ago, that's if you are referring to the Age Concern which was housed in what was once the Health Centre.

In connection with this old thread, I have just found out that there is such a thing as http://greatbritishpublictoiletmap.rca.ac.uk/but the information for Brentford is a bit sparse !I was surprised the automatic one by Goddards hadn't been included (if Hounslow had provided the info).

has a responsibility to provide public toilets throughout the borough?Maybe this is an issue we should take up with our local Councillors who seem to have plenty of money to spend subsidising private landlords and on other unnecessary schemes.The £500,000 lent by the Council to Brentford FC a few years ago could be repaid by the club's millionaire owner and used to build and maintain public toilets.

I fink there's a free one in Befnal Green.Only a £50 cab ride.There's defo one in Birminam.

When I was pregnant and had a small child I used to also have a mental map of all the shops with loos and public toilets.I remember being impressed by the compact but functional Mcloos.Department stores and DIY stores and Mothercare all had them.  My 3 yr old niece knew where the Mothercare ones were and led us ...... to a stack of potties.

Nope, I walked past the public cubicle thing on the way to work this morning - it says on it:"Free Entry - Access by RADAR Key""Disabled Only"Nowhere to put coins.It's nice that the council provide a facility for disabled people, but perhaps they should provide something for the able bodied too!

Shame this old lady wasn't near the civic centre at Hounslow As £248.544 tax payers money has been spent on new toilets with showers . Very posh A quarter of a million pounds to spend a penny . How much more council tax payers money is going to be wasted by this administration

Jenny's cafe has one for customers, I popped in when my four year old was caught short though did purchase a drink afterwards in appreciation of the lovely staff kindly letting us use the facilities. Morrisons one must have closed recently as I think I only took my son in there a month or so ago

Best bet is across the road at the back of Morris ons.. in Albany Road..at Age Concern. Pop in their shop, pop in their cafe and the spacious loo facilities are there. Very suitable for the disabled too.At lunchtimes  the Open House at St Paul's Church is an option too.

Since Morrisons toilets have been out of order,the Beehive have had a lot of people coming in to use their facilities.Obviously they were none too happy about this,and have put up notices saying "toilets for customer use only".Can't blame them really.
