Highway to Hell

Its the latest release from Hounslow Highways. Featuring Enfield Road, yes folks a great hit with the locals after years of neglect a new road surface. A side they spray tar, B side they throw stones on top. Down side summer arrives temperature soars road melts,tyres stick, shoes stick, pets stick, carpets destroyed,car bodywork given new look pebble finish.E:mail sent, men arrive to throw more stones. Yes they have knocked the tar laying Travellers into second spot in the crap work parade.

Too focused on politics and developers and not on services and quality.It needs a big clear out.But in all honesty I think the borough is too big and too diverse and no-one can run it efficiently and effectively in it's present state.Split the Borough and do the same with Ealing which is similar.

Letter received yesterday regarding New Road to say that the resurfacing works due to start yesterday have had to be postponed "due to a technical issue" so I am assuming the patching was the pre-works. When you go onto the website given in the letter there is no up to date information.  It says it is updated every two weeks but there is nothing after June! The only telephone number given is the main Hounslow Call Centre and it would be a waste of time calling them as they never know anything.

So far the outsourcing to  the French contractor does not appear to be a success. Can Hounslow terminate the contract and award it to a British company ? How many French councils have award similar massive contracts to British companies?

They did a nice job of Ealing Road but unbelievably the only good bit of the road.The bad bit and the terrible section of South Ealing Road remains...terrible.But the side streets are a cheap tosh over. A bit like painting over flaking paintwork without prep.A lot of the damage dates from gas and cable work where the repairs were not inspected and enforced and the oversight of settlement which usually occurs after the work has been signed off as satisfactory.The work ought to be inspected at 2 years and put right if defective at the contractors expense.

Don't know how it works but in the letter of 19th June it does say some pre-works may be necessary.  Is the patching the re-work (they were only here for 3 hours) and will they be arriving on 25th July (as originally advised) to do the whole road.  I will dig out the letter as there was a website link and have a look.

The resurfacing of New Road has also not quite turned out as I expected.  Rather than resurface they've highlighted around the edge of every previously dug patch of tarmac.  They also put white paint around all the pot-holes so you can see them more easily.
