Parking crisis as Whitestile takes CPZ over-spill

Those of us who voted yes to CPZ on Whitestile Road predicted this would happen and it has. The street has now become the overspill for all non-resident Golden Mile commuters and over-night travellers, while surrounding streets sensible enough to join the scheme are reaping the reward of empty spaces. What do we do now to have the zone extended? £60 seems a small price to pay to be able to park within a short walk from your house, especially for those of us with young children. Try unloading the car after a Tescos run with a toddler and walking half a kilometre down the road. Am I the only one fed up of seeing suited office workers parking their beemers in front of the house and heading off towards the A4? Take the train, for Goodness sake.

I live on the very edge of a CPZ and we get people from within our CPZ driving in to find a space closer to the station (which is not within our CPZ) first thing in the morning. Large CPZs will have this problem.We were told we'd get asked how it was working once it was in place and we weren't.  Eventually it did happen - we only found out by talking to a neighbour - as strangely the forms for those at the end of the road for whom it was not working well did not arrive.  I had to contact the Council (Ealing) twice in order to get them.  Don't forget there are roads for which there is no parking and so their cars as well end up on the streets where parking is allowed. Don't always use your car if you have one.  Walk and use other methods of transport if you can.  Online shopping is good for large and heavy routine items.

It is often the case on these forums that opinion is stated as fact.As a resident of Avenue Road within the new CPZ , who queues for a bus towards Northfields outside St Faith's Church, I see no evidence of car parking commuters heading towards Northfields.I BELIEVE they are actually headed towards the university building in Boston Manor Rd or GSK as they turn past the Globe pub headed in a westerly direction.The same commuters who previously parked in Avenue Road can now be observed exiting Whitestile to follow that route.I also BELIEVE that residents are polled once the council receive requests for a CPZ from residents.A small majority of residents of Avenue Road voted in favour the third time round, once the daytime parking situation deteriorated. Anyone purchasing a terraced house with no off street parking should expect problems if they own more than one vehicle.Strangely enough there are more parking spaces in our road in the evenings now......though I will not speculate why.

This is yet another Hounslow Council cock-up.  I understand that the Council's Lead Member for Parking is Isleworth Labour Councillor Ed Mayne. Local residents should direct their concerns to him.

All very well but commuters are parked by 10am. They do use the train. They go from Brentford, Northfields and South Ealing.They drive into use these satations because the difference in a Zone 3 season and a zone 4, 5 or 6 season is huge.There is no joined up thinking here. No parkway type stations not accommodation for commuters and more and more ordinary income people are being cleansed out of local districts by the overpriced developments and total lack of affordable homes.  They  (who are we really) all need jobs and homes.The CPZ is a cock up in the way it is designed and administered. It is pushing problems far away from the source.Simple don't use your car unless you have to, walk to work or the school and where do you park when you use your car? In another street where they have no CPZ?  Is it not cheaper to shop online now than pay to drive and park?Have you filled in the councils area plan which reduces parking further and placed and objection?So few bother this is why we end up with this mess.

Last week they amended the parking layout on Enfield Road and placed a single yellow line down the left from The Avenue towards the A4 therefore reducing the available parking to less than what there was before the CPZ was implemented! Its worse at the weekend so I think we get cars parked from Enfield Road that don't want to pay for a CPZ pass. After the original CPZ consultation the Council did say that they would reconsult Whitestile residents after 6 months to whether we wanted CPZ. Wonder if and when this happen?

This sort of problem is precisely why Chiswick Grove Park residents voted against CPZ's and were successful. The limited CPZ that is being introduced into Park Road- where most houses have driveways- and part of Staveley Road will force people to park in adjacent roads and cause problems there.

It's CPZ by stealth. One road goes then the overspill flows onto the next road which in turn get a CPZ and so on.
