Anyone for playing cricket ?
Hi all, the Saturday cricket team I play for (Old Manhattans Cricket Club) is looking to recruit new players for next season. The standard of play is weak to medium, we play friendlies (both home and away) against a variety of teams both within the M25 and in the London commuter belt, usually starting at 2pm on Saturdays and usually playing timed games but also occasionally a limited overs match. Our home ground is a well maintained wicket at Long Ditton Recreation Ground just south of Kingston/Surbiton.None of us are great cricketers (except perhaps in our heads !) but we are a friendly social bunch ranging from teenagers to 'veterans' and we need some new blood to keep the team (which has been in existence for 40 years) continuing. Several of us are based in Chiswick and Brentford so lifts can be provided. Once a year we play a 'tour' match on a Sunday in the Cotswolds and generally we play approximately 10-15 games a season.All you need to be is enthusiastic, possess a modicum of coordination, have your own whites and be able to pay a £10 match fee - not exactly the most rigorous of criteria !.We do have our last scheduled game of this season on Saturday 7th (away to Woldingham Village Cricket Club (near Caterham, 13.30 start) if anyone fancies a game ?.If you're interested in playing either this Saturday or next season please drop me a private message.Thanks,Adam
