Macmillan cancer support coffe morning

Hi all, There will be a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday 28th September,from 10.00 am at the Bridgelink centre Ivybridge estate.I have first hand knowledge of the fantastic work this charity does. My partners sister has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer for the second time in 7 years and Macmillan are there, at the end of the phone whenever I need them for advice, or just a chat to reassure me that the support I am giving, both to her and her family, is right. Please come along and support this charity over a cup of coffee and a biscuit or 2!

As Chris says, this is a worthy cause and deserves our support. There are many ways in which we can do this. On a personal note I have seen at first hand the valuable work that the Macmillan nurses do.

And I had meant to end my post with "Please support this".It took me all morning to realise that Ian's reply to me was a joke regarding another interest of mine.I just hadn't realised until this summer exactly how dangerous asbestos is and that there is still so much of it around and hidden.Macmillan give very valuable support and are important to our family too.I wish you an enjoyable and successful fund-raising coffee morning.  I'm otherwise committed but shall be taking a reusable Macmillan shopping bag out and about in support.

My sincere apologies for my previous comment. I didn't read the post properly and engaged mouth before brain. I don't know what I was thinking at the time but looking at my comment now it is really stupid. So my apologies to all on this thread.I lost a very dear family member to mesothelioma a few years back. She had come into contact with asbestos some 35-40 years previously whilst working as a cleaner at a hospital whilst renovation works were going on. The disease is truly horrific and chemotherapy only offers the shortest of respites.Macmillan are angels and deserve every bit of support they can get.

Thanks Paul. Can I just say to everyone that my original post was simply to ask for support for Macmillan who do incredible work with people who have, or are affected by, any type of cancer. Please don't turn this thread into some sort of discussion on the why's and the wherefores.If you can come along on the 28th great, if not fine. Please let's not get into petty arguments. Thanks.

An organisation which will be needed more and more as time catches up with us.Lung cancer does not necessarily mean that you have been a smoker it can also be caused by exposure to asbestos dust.  We have teachers who after 30 or 40 years of teaching are falling victim to this.  We need to make sure that adequate monitoring of places where there is asbestos is happening.
