Councillor Thompson said;“The recent example of Cllr Mohinder Gill being found to breach the Code of Conduct when he “used his position to improperly confer an advantage” in the infamous planning meeting of 23 rd September 2010 and now Cllr Darshan Grewal being fined for ignoring health and safety regulations in his own restaurant, just shows the need for all of us to remind ourselves of these principles.”  The Nolan Principles of Public Life are: Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty and Leadership. They were introduced back in 1994 for all in public life, be they Politicians, Civil Servants or Councillors, to ensure “the highest standards of propriety in public life.”A Council spokesman pointed out that the motion was agreed by all members and that there was cross-party support.If the above is true why are Gill, Grewal and Gruet (3 Gs) still in their jobs???

But to be precise the headline doesn't say "senior council officers" and the article actually specifically refers to politicians, councillors and civil servants - as Vanessa often reminds us Council officers are not civil servants.No doubt LBH were aware of this incident.  If he's been at LBH for over 8 years that could suggest that either (a) his behaviour hasn't changed and somehow or however he's got to where he is today, or (b) he learnt from that experience and has become an exemplary employee.I don't know the answer, but did you kick up such a stink when he was first appointed in 2005 ?.  If not, why now ?.  There has to be a catalyst for your thread and the specific inclusion of Mr. Gruet in your original posting, particularly given the exclusion of any reference to ex Councillors whose distant past is well known.

No personal issue at all, I was merely responding to the headline 'Councillor (including senior council officers) should sunbscribe to the Nolan Principles.' Surely when they appointed and promoted Gruet they must have been aware of his past especially for a post in a multicultral borough. Would these people condone the suspects of historical sexual offences and the holocaust?

But again, what has this got to do with LBH/the present time ? - given according to the media reports (dating back over 13 years) he was employed by LB Camden and was still at Camden until 2005.If you're got some kind of personal 'issue' with the guy then this forum isn't the place.

The Nolan Principals apply to Gruet. He was found by an Employment Tribunal and backed by the Employment Appeals Tribunal to have discriminated against a junior Sikh solicitor yet he has faced no sanctions.

Which dates back over 13 years and as Ian says had nothing to do with LBH, so rather odd why an Officer is included in this thread.

Gruet is actually an officer, previously involved in an embarrassing IT case which went against Camden Council.

Possibly because the all seeing, all knowing, all round clever dick Colin Ellar is protecting them. I don't think Gill is standing again next year, not sure about the other two. If they are then they damned well shouldn't be.
