Do we really own the Royal Mail?
As one could imagine I have been receiving a lot of propaganda of late from both sides of the privatisation debate, both union and employer.The union asks why I would want to buy shares in the Royal Mail, when I own it already. If the public truly owns the Royal Mail then how is the government able to sell it off against the clear wishes of a majority of the people? I couldn't sell somebody else's car against their will.It is pretty obvious that the public doesn't own the Royal Mail. It is owned by the state, who look after it on our behalf - if we're lucky.Workers' co-ops anyone?
