Hairdressers - formerly "Ideas for Brentford Lock"

As it was really posted in the wrong place initially my partner has asked me to post this question again.......Thanks."Hi, apologies in that this is not a reference to Class A3 planning permission, but when "the boss" saw that Liz had commented that, "As for shops, well most of us have to go elsewhere! There are no clothes shops at all."  she asked me to post a question on her behalf.  Can anybody suggest a good lady's hairdresser in the area?"

Nigel I'll also 'fess up' to having to trim my nose and ear hairs. It comes with age and is something that I hope that you won't have to face for many, many years.

GerryIts easy really. The clippers come with a series of attachments, generally from a number 1 through to number 5. Just slip them on and away you go, over the area you want to cut. Its even easier if you want the same length all over which is what I go for. DA - that'll be a ducks a@se eh? I remember them well.

I note Gareth hasn't 'fessed up, but I chop at my own hair whenever it starts annoying my ears or collar. I've done this for years, prompted by the last haircut I paid for at Jeffreys, which was about the same price back then, and the second worst cut I'd ever had.How much I bother with it at any one time depends on my patience /irritant level of the moment. The results may be variable, but then they always were with barbers. I just use scissors.There was a hairdressing school at the college I used to attend (sometimes), and we used to be able to get very cheap/free cuts for acting as practice subjects. I'll never forget queuing up at the canteen one day and hearing a couple of girls behind me criticising my haircut in a "professional" way. I turned around, and as I gleefully pointed out to one of them, it was she who'd done it!

The hairdressers next to South Ealing - I think they're called H&M or M&M - are excellent. They are pricey but for women, you can't beat it locally. I have straight hair and the cut is like it's been done with a ruler. The colouring is also excellent. They keep a record of what you've had done so if you go back and what the same but can't remember what you had they can tell you and by whom. Parking is available on a meter just around the next corner. Oh, they also do the best head massage when washing your hair.

Oh for goodness sake LIZ, don't tell anyone about the good parking spots in South Ealing! Thats where I park when I go for my weekly fry-up at the excellent Cafe Provence...fried egg, two rashers unsmoked back, black pudding, large dollop of bubble and a fried slice, together with a small pot of tea and double toast - £4.25 the lot! Shhh, don't let a soul know about good parking and don't tell my wife about my weekly fry-ups! :-(

Good news and bad news.  I drove to “Blades” today – from the outside it looks excellent; I stopped briefly on the opposite side of the road and I think I can answer a couple of  the questions on prices.  I only looked at “Mens” and I think it said “Cut - £7; Wash/cut £10.”The reason I couldn’t get a good look was a parking problem.  Walking distances have to be restricted to yards / metres – not several streets, (so I fall into the age group that remember the D/A :)Anyone know the best parking places?

I would still recommend Blade in South Ealing Road, even for colour they're very reasonable (I think they're cheap for mens cuts too) They also have a beauty section (not expensive). I went to Busbys once not far from Northfields & came out looking like they'd cut it with a knife & fork! Don't think I'd risk trying to cut my own with clippers, do you actually cut your own Gareth?

Do the Council cut hair? :) No, but then again would you want your hair cut by the local authority. That would be the Nanny Stage going wrong. Buy a set of clipper, they cost about £20.00 and will last for years and years.

Ah Jim,I see you noticed that a hair cut at Jeffrey's costs as much as replacing a square metre of paving! :)
