Coincidence OR Corruption

Big Labour advertisement in the Chronicle for B & I candidate, Puneet Grewal to hold her Q & A's at Kingsway, Hounslow West, which is out of B & I area. The owner of Kingsway is the father of Heston candidate, Harleen Atwal who tried to get her illegal extension passed through discredited Cllr. Gill - why aren't the other candidates getting the same backing?

No - the post I responded to seems to suggest that you could never consider voting Labour ever again - you cannot tar everyone with the same brush, things change, people move on. The post was after all from a died-in-the wool-Tory, so it was hardly going to be objective was it? Any suggestion that any of the others are perfect is just plain ridiculous as events both past and present show.

However, this is only your opinion, and if you were being completely honest you'd admit that no political party bears very close scrutiny. Some of us think that demonising the lower paid and unemployed - not to mention the disabled and the vulnerable elderly, is pretty shameful, as is happening thanks to one Iain Duncan Smith, people in glass houses and all that?

If I may - I think it is up to the actual parties these people claim to belong to to do something about their antics. I can remember quite clearly when I got in touch with the regional party being patronised by some officious official, who asked if I'd taken my concerns up with the leadership of the council - as if I'd just come down with the last shower! When you read of what goes on in places like Tower Hamlets which are so outrageous you do wonder - I think it's the age old story of not wanting to be accused of racism, it isn't racism it's right and wrong regardless of who is damaging the reputation of the party. Until parties are honest with themselves I just don't see anything changing. A lot of people are more interested in the 'status' of being elected and what that will do for them personally in the community, the Ellars and others of this world exploit this for their advancement.

When I was on the local authority one of the Tory councillors emigrated to Spain whilst remaining a Feltham member.  Some of my colleagues were surprised that Labour had nothing to say about it, but I wasn't.  It turned out later that one of their number was living in Pakistan.

If you are not familiar with the mechanism of local politics then it is difficult to know what to suggest should be done about it.However,it is very surprising to me that the opposition parties have not been able to make more of a noise about it. I would also have thought that the non elected leaders of the council would be very concerned.

They want to be on local councils and commitees for the allowances,expenses,kudos,and any other "benefits" which may come their way. One only has to look at some of the outrageous decisions made in planning meetings over the years to realise that,at the very least,pressure had been applied to influence these decisions.Those at the higher levels of the council,especially Messrs Sharma and Ellar,know that these councillors,and the people who vote for them,are the bedrock of their power and are more than happy to turn a blind eye,or as in the case with Gill,use our money to try to defend him.Its actually disgusting!

I see the Labour Party has chosen Ruth Cadbury to represent them at the general elections even after all the postulating by the dodgy dynasties that have plagued this area for decades.  So I'll assume that Grewal creature will now be auctioned off as breeding stock?

The question really is why do these people want to be on local councils and on certain committees?The next question is why on earth are the Fraud squad and the police not taking this degree of abuse and corruption more seriously. It completely undermines our fragile democracy.These people and those who support them are just as much a cancer of our society as the likes of Jimmy Savile or terrorist  extremists.They should be outed and dealt with in the same way as these others who fiddle, bend and warp society.

I know theres corruption everywhere but I'm not gonna say anything about anyone today except that when I was a boy Karbara the old mp from Southall came up to me and my boys and was like, ffor every vote you get me you get one bottle of beer and a six pack just for trying. it was only later I realise that he woudnt know we could just said yea we got you like 1500 votes bruv, but my mate was like nah hes only going to give us a few beers anyway. he just wants us going around shouting to vote for him. these politicans are all like desperate and will do anything for money, power, and so on. Even like offering beer bribes to lads who weren't gonna be that helpful anyway. Its like their mental. And they still are, all of them are like same as ever. Corruption you can bet your last quid on it.

The constituency is called Brentford and Isleworth, and you appear to be talking about a couple of individuals, so I am certain that once the selection gets seriously underway Chiswick will not be forgotten.

And Darshan Grewal is now mayor - so that resignation request didn't work.  I see this fella worked in the Dehli police where, he claims, corruption and bribery was rife and he was glad to come to the UK, - so, after honing these skills in his homeland he attempted to put them into practice in the UK?  Is the prospective Labour MP candidate related?And why doesn't labour include Chiswick in their blurb?  The elected MP for this area covers Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth - BCI and not B&I.

If you recall Cllr Peter Thompson asked for Cllr Darshan Grewal's resigination after his wife applied for an adult entertainment licence. Grewal was subsequently convicted for fire breach regulations and recently lost his appeal. Kingsway is where Harleen Atwal's father, Gill & Co tried to bribe a police officer who served on the Standards Committee. Surely, if you are attracting votes in B & I you would have a session here locally?

Kingsway - is that the lap-dancing place/gentlemen's club up in Hounslow West which is connected to the Grewals/and/or/Gills? Also, why do labour always miss out Chiswick in their blurbs - surely the local MP represents Brentford, Isleworth & Chiswick?

I've never heard of this before but I've been out of the loop for a long time now. Generally prospective candidates trawl around the various wards of the constituency to get their support before the final selection by the CLP.

Vanessa is likely to have a better than I about how these things work, but what exactly is the purpose of a wannabe candidate holding a Q & A session for the general public when it isn't the general public who will be deciding whether or not she gets the job?If she is trying to demonstrate how she likes to engage with the people ahead of her own party then she is playing very dangerous game indeed with this bunch.
