Getting a Doctor's appointment!!!!

I rang my Doctor's at 8am this morning to be told they do not open until 8.30am acceptable! At 8.35am I again rang line engaged after repeated attempts I finally got an answer from a pre-recorded message this is the following scenario:-1, This may be recorded for training purposes2, Press 1 for an appointment or to cancel one etc3, Pressed 1 then was asked to input my date of Birth this I did was then asked to input my telephone number which I did,I then had a 5 minute wait listening to the most awful bloody music imaginable only to be told SORRY our system does not recognise you.I tried until 9 am with no joy.Fortunately my Daughter came by,went onto the on-line appointment system and booked one for 7pm this evening.If I hadn't a daughter I would have had to make my way to the surgery which an older person may not have felt able to do. Personal touch is a necessity especially when you are feeling ill,this kind of useless technology has no place in a Doctor's Surgery,Receptionists do a very good job so let's keep them!!And for goodness sake put a nice Strauss Waltz on your music system especially as we are paying for it!!

Don't get me wrong both our Doctor's and Receptionist's are very good once you manage to get to them.I may be old fashioned however if and it isn't often I need to see a Doctor the first port of call should be to a live speaking Receptionist,who passes the time of day with you when your feeling poorly this means a lot.A talking clock(pardon the pun)has no empathy and this is needed.

Our G.P. practice carries out regular surveys about their performance, and to be honest they are excellent, and have a late evening and a couple of early morning sessions for people who have to get to work. When you go tell them about your experience and make a complaint.
