What's a nice happy Christmas?

I'd like to hear your views about what makes for a nice happy Christmas. I'm still getting a little warm glow remembering a question someone posted on the ChiswickW4 forum a few weeks back. A lady asked if there was a local charity where she could help out on Christmas day as she was going to be alone this year and wanted something useful to do. I thought that was nice. ;-)

NEIL & JIM, you have both described the perfect Christmas, just the sort of things my family love and enjoy! On Boxing day we like to drive to Richmond Park and have a nice long walk then back home for tea - a mountain of turkey sandwiches, hot mince pies(from Jim's beloved Plum Duff shop!) and fresh fruit salad. Then settle down to see The Sound of Music(for the 7th time!) and so to bedtime. PERFECT! ;-)))

I love Christmas, now i've got 2 small children, one 5 one 2, it is even more exciting.I do the same as I did in the UK. Up early put the turkey in, open the pressies, play Christmas music. East at approx 3pm.Drinl lots of English beer. I've imporeted 4 cases.

Layers of snow...accompanied by sunshine...knowing that you've just about managed the pre-Christmas rush...Church on Christmas Eve....and sing a few carols...throw a few snowballs....ideally a big family christmas lunch (somewhere !)  and time to listen to the Queen's speech... spare a moment to think of absent friends... enjoy "flop day"  on Boxing day...mince pies and sherry with the neighbours...followed by another "flop day"....cold turkey,chips and pickles...trip to Chiswick, Whitton and London to see the Xmas lights...Trafalqer Square to see the Norwegian Christmas tree....tipping the dustmen...tipping the postman..tipping the paperboy..and checking out the street scene in Vyborg!

Fair enough - though for me, I do like Christmas with my family and friends, not only once a year but as often as possible. As an OAP of 70+, I'm very aware that there might be too few of them left to enjoy, so I'll cherish each and every one to come. If its not too early, have a happy festival and I wish you everything you deserve. ;-)

How about only celebrating it once every five years? That would make me ecstatically happy!
